Are, "artful depictions of nudity," allowed on HubPages?

   We all know that, "nude," is a form of art, but we also know that the rules for HubPages are typically against nudity, especially linking to it.
   
   At the same time, it is common to see articles on nude pieces, and typically those pieces are classic paintings. However, as we are in the digital age, real-life nudity is becoming not just a bold revolutionary statement, but a way to express yourself in a tastefully-artistic way in many mediums.
   
   Does HubPages avoid drawing the restrictive line between classics and modernism, or should writing on the, "nude," style be kept strictly to criticism of classical pieces? Should there be a distinction other than time-period and style? Will writing on artful modern nudes and artists get an author banned, or otherwise penalized?
   
   There are so many individuals that I work with who enjoy the nude genre, and it would be nice to be able to write about them without the harsh restrictions that all-too-often come with modern nude art.

      You can publish these types of articles, but there is a chance the images will cause restricted ads or ads to be removed entirely if we receive a complaint from ad partners.

   As I understand it, the restrictions on this site generally come from it being funded by advertising. The advertisers call the shots. That tends to make things pretty restrictive in certain areas.
   
   Obviously, I can't can't answer the specifics of your question, but that's how things work in my experience. I wouldn't expect too much.

      My expectations are so low that I've already begun writing on the topic for other sites before even asking whether it is worth it or not on this one. I like the formatting of HubPages the most as far as user-end input goes, but the restrictions here tend to force me elsewhere. This is the only place I attach my real name to my writings, and I'd like to create a presence with my real name in my artist communities.
      
      Alas, it is as you say, the advertisers that HubPages chooses to associate with call the shots. Hopefully they can weigh in on the topic objectively, but I won't hold my breath.

   Kyler, from my experiences, an article about or depicting nudity will be generally allowed but it will more than likely have the advertising disabled on it. I published a poem a number of years ago, a poem called ‘Prince Plethora’s Pleasure Palace’ which wasn’t about art or nudity but I had used paintings that featured some nudity. It was flagged for being against the advertiser’s policies and all of advertising was disabled. I had to change the images to “less explicit ones” … no nipples clearly showing. Restrictions may have been relaxed somewhat since then but you would need that confirmed by HubPages staff.

      Hopefully they take the time to weigh in and clarify, but can I get a link to that poem? That sounds like it would be up my alley.
      
      It always interests me the sort of things advertisers love, versus the things they despise. Often times it makes little to no moral, logical, nor even tangible sense.

   Paul is correct, the restrictions on this are about advertisers. I recall people publishing articles on nude sculptures and paintings, but I think ads were disabled.

            Nah, I've come to find out from Matt that HP will not penalize the author, which in truth was my biggest concern. Luckily there are platforms whose advertisers don't mind modern art pieces, but now I know that I can do a purely personal piece here if ever I choose without worry of a ban.
