I just finished reading a hub for people like me, older and not someone who has a grasp of SEOs. I'm going to read it over again because it is short and clear in its ability to engage the resistant mature mind.

The article is called "SEO Tips That Work (Even For Beginners)."  The author is new to Hubpages but has been involved in the SOE Industry for 7 1/2 years.  I am not a 'beginner' but I am a slow learner where SOE is concerned and found this article nicely written and easier to understand (with a few referrals for words I was fuzzy about). Welcome to Naeem Gari.

Search engine optimization (SEO), and keywords is a vital topic I'm trying to master year after year.                             Yes, I've try as best as I can by naturally making use of related key words in my articles and forum posts. Key-words play the role of exposing our articles on the web.                        Seriously, learning and trying the ropes is worthy.

Copying other writers articles, or stories, is not worth the effort at hubpages. It'll cost you your account to be banned.                                              At best, strive to write the way you felt it. That's originality.                                         Every writer can put quotes into quatation marks, or callout capsule. That means you're giving credit to other writers. But be original, and express how you felt enough.

I appreciate your encouraging words. Some of us "lifelong learners" take a little longer for the lightbulb to go on, and often, I find, my ability to understand is lit up by a small piece of information that "everybody knows" before me. However that learning happens, the learning and its source are worthy of celebrating. IMHO.

I would say that the SEO advice in the HP help section is easier and actually relevant to being a writer on HubPages.

I mean, if you want to start registering images with Creative Commons and making videos, good luck! It's not necessary, nor should it be a main focus, imho.

HP does a lot of the internal and other linking for us. The only important one in the list is to keep checking that your links work.

This guy isn't actually an "SEO expert", in my opinion, but that that's another story.

In fairness to Naeem, he doesn't claim to be "an expert" but someone who has worked in the industry. I worked as a professional counselor to a certain population for many years and can't say that reached the status of "expert" in the field, although I certainly did gain some good information to share with others, and I learned to listen well. As someone in my 70s who has a number of friends my age, the struggle to understand SEO is real. Like others, I do not only write on HP, and I actually did find the information about registering images with Creative Commons-- or actually, the referral to all the images freely available at Creative Commons-- a helpful tip.

Thanks for the reminder about the HP Help Section. I will indeed check it out again.

Yes, you're right, it's possible for someone to do a job for years and not be good at it.

It's also possible that people can lie about their experience on the internet, or deliberately mislead. Though, lets face it, "working in the industry" could really mean anything.

SEO is mainly focused on keywords and key phrases. In my opinion, Naeem would likely have written the article differently if he was aware of basic SEO and wanted his work to perform well.
