Neither "Microsoft Print to PDF" nor "Save to PDF" show images in hubs when an attempt is made to print to file. I presume this has something to do with images being embedded and stored in a document versus them being pulled in from the server as needed? However when I view articles n the sites, the images have been downloaded, so not sure why it doesn't work. I usually save the HTML version of an article instead, but hopefully the files will be readable offline by future versions of browsers. When I do this with Medium stories, it seems to work ok. (Text can't be selected in the printed file however when I use "Microsoft Print to PDF")
I might be misunderstanding because I don't use Word, but are you saving the documents into Word and then converting them to PDFs? Might have better luck just "printing to PDF" from your browser. I tried it on Firefox and seemed to work nicely.
I personally backup all my stuff in markdown as it makes editing/converting easier, but HTML works and isn't going anywhere (and is better on saving memory vs. PDF). Just means saving your pictures separately.
No, I select "Save to PDF" in the print dialog that appears when I try to print. I think this option differs a bit between browsers.
Just checked this again and the images don't appear in the preview in the print dialog nor in the saved PDF. I'll check again to see whether there's a switch that has to be turned on to include images. Maybe it's a browser issue. I will check on Edge and Chrome.
Might want to check under "more settings" or "properties" when you click print to PDF. Could be the options are set to not include images? Otherwise maybe an add-on might work better. Hope you find a workaround.
I hope most of the images in our hubs are already with us in our possession. Only those taken from online sites may be unavailable if we didn't already downloaded them.
I just printed a PDF of one of my hubs. I was surprised to see there is one recommended hub within a text capsule along with an image in it.
It may be pulling that image in from the TAG Say Media server. Try opening the PDF while offline.
I am viewing it offline only. The inlet is there within a text capsule with its image.
So I tried three browsers: Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Neither show images in the print dialog nor save them. I thought maybe the problem was that I wasn't scrolling down the articles before trying to print. Images are lazy loaded which means they aren't downloaded until a reader scrolls down. However that didn't work either. Maybe there's some security setting on my computer that prevents images from being loaded into the preview.
Maybe the servers don't allow images to be printed? Just a wild guess.
