I came across something about wal-mart selling caskets and had to look for myself, but a search on the walmart.com site didn't bring any results. I found a number of articles and blogs with lots of details (no refunds.. ha ha) but I'm curious to know if anyone else has seen this, and wtf is wal-mart doing selling CASKETS?
Maybe their selection is as..interesting as the people who shop there (www.peopleofwalmart.com).

Yes they are. I heard it on NPR this morning and the prices are really good! You can probably find the news story about it on NPR.org

Haha, yeah they are, I just saw it on the news. I wonder if they are made in China like most of the products they sell. IDK crazy.

At least now all of their employees with crappy health care can get a discount on a casket.

First I've heard of it.  You know the saying,  "If you build them (and sell them) they will come."  (or should that be, "...they will bargain shop for grandma's casket).

For those who want the very best for their loved ones - LOL.

What's next - urns? Or do they already sell those too?

I posted a link up above. It could be Canada doesn't sell them because the government provides them for free?

The ABC link I posted above says they only sell them online.  They're delivered in 48 hours of ordering, by the way.   hmm

Apparently, the Federal law (US) requires funeral homes to accept "third-party" caskets.  I guess it must be to allow families to have more options than just buying the marked up version from the funeral home.
