Water-soluble Coloured Pencils

   What are the basics of drawing with water-soluble coloured pencils?  Any good Hubpages on the subject.  Thanks.

   I am no artist but love to use the water soluble pencils, I dip the tip in water and pat slightly dry or you can draw and then use a tiny wet brush and lightly brush over the drawing.

   Yes you can use the methods that you've described, although I prefer the colouring in method and then going over with a wet brush, because once the layer dries that you've coloured in you can go over and add another shade lighter or darker, I use watercolour pencils alot to draw and draft out colour schemes for characters and other stuff that I need to work out in my sketchbooks!
   
   And that is really the basics, of course you can draw with a light 2h pencil or something first and plan your drawings and then decide what colours you can do with your soluble pencils and usually you don't have to colour in neatly as you can just bring it all together with a wet brush!

   Truthfully I have never had much luck with water soluble pencils!  I'm with waynet, I believe the "best" way to use them is to color first, then go over them with a damp brush.
   
   If you're looking for travel-ready watercolors, I am a HUGE fan of using the Sakura water brush along with a little tray of pre-dried watercolor tints.
