Create another account in HubPage or create a new blog

   I've been thinking of putting up a new HubPage account (an alter-ego for some) solely for my accounting / business / technical hubs. But I've noticed that accounting hubs are not really ranked that high here (or I'm not looking real hard). So I'm thinking of putting up my own blog about accounting. Problem is, I think I have more of an advantage (in terms of getting noticed by Google) if I stay here in HubPages rather than if I put up a blog from scratch.
   
   Anybody can help me out on this? Will really appreciate your inputs. Thanks.

      I would do both - more work but more reward I believe - if accounting is your niche, research what people are looking for in an accountant if that's the service you offer. Hubpages will help you to backlink as well as get found in search for specific terms your target market are looking for but a well constructed blog will also show in local search on Google if that's where your market is coming from - blogging takes work though - minimum 3 posts per week to get any traction..

   read tos on blogspot. evidently they own your content and may shut you down without notice (so i'm told).  also check into wordpress.com vs. wordpress.org, will be switching over to one of them soon.  am researching now, so unqualified to give more than suggestions.

      That would be news to me, blogspot even allows adult content! but I imagine they are quick  to respond to dmca complaints for all the copied content blogs
      
      You can create xhtml back-ups of your blogspot site, if the worst happens you can upload right into a wordpress blog.
      
      No wordpress.com if your plan is to make up any income from advertising and ref/aff links...wordpress.com do not waste your time..if you want free hosted just go with blogspot
      
      There is no such thing as a niche that doesnt perform well on hubpages (or anywhere for that matter)...there are plenty of keyword combinations that you dont stand a chance in hell of cracking first page for,...but that just means you need to have do research and find creative terms to generate traffic
      
      
      BlueHost now has no limits on domains or storage but has a limit of 100 msql databases, so you are effectively limited to that many WP installs
      
      For the same price I prefer Hostgator as there are no limits on any options

   If I would have been in such a situation, I would get a domain name, host it on one of my hosting accounts, install wordpress on it(which will take 2 minutes or so) and start blogging.
   
   By now you know that accounting hubs won't do well on HP, so why not give blogging a try. BTW there are quite a few niches which don't do well at hubpages, especially at the start but some of the hubs in those niches do well as they get older.
   
   And once you set up a blog, you can link to it from your accounting hubs.
   As far as Google's advantage for Hub Pages is concerned, Google will rank your site higher if you are willing to do all that hard work of SEO, backlinking, marketing etc.

      Good advice - Bluehost.com does a one click install on wordpress , as do a few others but their c panel (control centre for anyone wondering about the terminolgy) is simple to navigate. Hosting will cost less than $10 per month for up to 100 domains which should be enough to fill a few good longtail keywords in any niche.

         I host most of my sites with BlueHost. It is good as compared to dreamhost and others which I have been using previously.

   @UH, thanks for the great advice. Do all the hard work eh? Maybe that's why I want to do it here in HubPages. LOL j/k. I'll consider what you said. I think it will be a great first topic for my blog because that is really my field. Lots of competition out there but heck, I need to start somewhere and accounting is really the best place for me to start. Thanks again.

   Why not do both - create a blog, then write HubPages articles as well to promote your blog.
