Frugal Fanny was a nick, not my real name, that I picked because it rolled off the tongue easily and tied in with my general theme.  However, since many have pointed out that Fanny is slang for a certain body part in some countries, I figure it might be best to consider other nicks?  I need something catchy that suits a frugal, environmental, parenting theme and doesn't sound like a tongue twister.  Anyone care to offer up some suggestions?

Are you aware that you can't edit your user name?  You'll have to delete your entire account and start over.

"Frugal Fanny" is the name of a women's clothing store that was (maybe still is - not sure) in our area, if not other areas.  You could switch to something kind of cool like, "The Froogs" maybe?  smile

eh..im not sure if the connotation is different elsewhere, but a fanny is a nice motherly way of saying "bum" in my expereince.

i dont think it will detract from your content- i wouldnt want to start from scratch or copy over all of my content over that.

      really fun icons, SF!

I say, do what you feel you need to do, if you plan on writing and making a niche for yourself, you want to feel comfortable with your name. you're going to see it a lot and have to live with it.  do you really want to start all over?

If so, maybe marisas suggestion of Frugal Fran- sounds smart, upbeat, fun.  whatever you end up doing, enjoy it! big_smile

Frugal Fanny is correct - in my neck of the woods, the word 'fanny' is not your butt. It's your ... bits smile

I have noticed you about Frugal and being honest, I did smile at your name. But it really was because of what the word means in the UK.

I wouldn't change it. Look at my name. It was hardly an einstein moment when I came up with my mess of green silliness tongue

With all of the hubs including scantily dressed ladies on here, having "fanny" as part your name could possibly help.

I love the name Frugal Fanny... even tho it does depict some body parts in some countries, I still think the name is cute. I wouldn't change it, but then I don't have to live with it so it's easy for me to say.

If you MUST change it, let's see... Frugal Frog? Frugal Finesse? Frugal Feat? LOL

Also, you'll have to create a whole new hub ID and build your presence all over again. Up to you, but my vote is to keep Frugal Fanny!

My vote is dump it before you write so many Hubs switching them would be a huge effort.  It probably doesn't matter a whole lot if you're just writing for fun, but if "professional image" matters now, or may matter later, it could make a difference in your decision.  (I was getting quite a few writing assignments from the UK for a while, so there are potential clients in countries other than the US.)  The real question probably is, "Now that you know what it can mean in other countries are you fine with it or uncomfortable about it?"

    honestly Fanny?

I had never thought about that body part until you mentioned it. I like the name, personally.

In my neck of the woods fanny means something other than bum and it's quite rude!

Having said that, thank you Frugal fanny for making my brain work. I had to wonder how the former attibiute could relate to the latter body part. I'm still wondering. Hmm . . .

After much thinking (and some encouragement on the part of my hubby), I've decided to keep using Frugal Fanny.  For several reasons:

1/ I've already started establishing myself under this nick, and would have to set myself up all over again.
2/ Ownership.  True, fanny is slang for female genitalia. True, some people find the word/reference offensive, and some women get offended when they are called it. BUT... the "c" word and the "b" word, both of which can be used interchangeably with fanny, is also often applied to women who are assertive, who go out and do what they have to, to get what they want.  It's applied to women who stick up for themselves and show others what they are made of.  So, I say: own it.  Just like every man can be a jerk if they want to, it should be every woman's god-given right to act like a flamin' fanny when they have to! (can I get an Amen, Sister!? lol)
3/ Besides, my hubby just said he already bought me the domain name. lol!
