   This arose as a quotation by John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902). The historian and moralist, who was otherwise known simply as Lord Acton, expressed this opinion in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887:
   
   "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."
   
   
   Did he leave something out? Can there be absolute power without absolute belief?

      This statement of opinion is in reference to a person who gain power, who then acts against morality and if this same person has absolute power, then they would be capable of anything. Great men are almost always bad men, is subjective to his own views of the behavior of other men.
      
      
      
      Yeah, belief? There is not one word belief in his statement. You are toying with the words, to give off a meaning, that benefits your own views of having no absolutes in life. This post will be as far as I go, to indulging your fun.

   Don't quote me as saying that, it's not my quote. It doesn't matter what it was in reference to? It's not limited to one idea. I'm not questioning the other parts about bad men, i'm quesioning whether or not there can be absolute power without an absolute idealogy or belief.

   Wow, you are so intellectual and sharp. Get some sense. I'm sorry your belief of absolutes isn't everyones. This must hurt your feelings. I didn't state anything as absolute faithful one, I asked the question if he left something out. lol and you say others are limited minds. You are the one that reads what you want to believe.

   Absolute belief does not permit any compromise whatsoever. For that very reason, I consider that it cannot enable absolute power.

      I don't understand that. How do you see absolute belief not enabling absolute power. If you have absolute belief in someone, do they not have absolute control over you?
      
      Use cults for example. The followers put absolute belief into the leader usually ending in absolute power/control then absolute corruption.

   There is one absolute belief, one absolute power, and it's not corrupted as many may want to think or beleive.
   
   The corruption is always within the person who did not, cannot, or will not understand that God alone is Good.
   
   There is no corruption of Good( God ), but only in the perception of the seeker.
   
   And with out clarity of that ones perception (truth), the absolute nature Of God (Good) will forever be a foreign concept.
