Hi--
I am completely new to HubPages (as in I signed up 5 minutes ago! I've been writing on the Internet for a couple of years andhave heard good things about HubPages.
I really have two questions. First, once I get the affiliate links set up, how does HubPages pay? Do they send money to my PayPal account?
Second, I've been writing web content--Helium, eHow, Constant Content, Demand Studios, and similar sites. How much of a market is there on HubPages for this and does it pay well?
Any feedback or tips will be mucho appreciated!
W D Adkins
HP doesn't pay you the affiliates pay you.
HP outshines all those other sites and the pay is dependent on your own efforts.
You get your own affiliate account with the ones you want. Then you get paid right from them. I noticed you said you write for Demand Studios.
I know many that make $150.00 to over $200.00 bucks a day on there. I don't think this place or any other writing place will pay as much. Of course you have to write a lot to get paid that much.
How can demand studio pay that much of amount. This is amazing!! It looks like a real life earning.
Thanks,
Jyoti Kothari
They pay around 20 bucks for a 400 or so word article. That is flat fee, meaning you write the article and they pay you the 20 bucks for it, nothing else.
But most can write an article like that in 30 minutes to an hour. However they are very picky and you have to send them writing samples and a resume.
They turned me down and I wish I knew why. I write as good as most. So it must have been something about what I submitted for them to see.
Thanks everyone. Quite a response--and helpful.
Now--about Demand Studios. Most articles pay $15.00 flat fee. The remainder are usually $7.50 or $20.00. Generally, you do not make $150-200/day (at least on average). I am (so DS tells me) one of their top writers (Lord help us all if that's true!). I average 70 articles a month on DS. The people making 3x that have built up revenue share on eHow (which is owned by Demand Media), produce videos as well, or some other activity.
Still very good money. They ARE picky--every article gets reviewed by a copy editor--and they only hire pros. As to getting approved, here's my take on it. Your resume and writing samples have to look professional. Avoid off-color or humorous topics. My best advice is to look on eHow until you find "Featured" articles that list the author as a "Contributing Writer" (Those are ones written through Demand Studios, not by eHow members. Read a few and it will give you a feel for what DS wants.
Again, thanks.

I got in on EHOW towards the very end just a few months before it imploded. I was making decent money right away----MUCH more than what I make per adsense per hubpages, etc. However, I disliked a number of other things about EHOW. When EHOW imploded there were a number of other things...

I have just reviewed a hub I posted a few days back which had been rejected (well was the subject of a substantial rewrite request which I was not prepared to do.....) by Demand Media for their Synonym account. I posted the piece as written for Demand to HubPages and when I checked it just now I...

What did you expect from hubpages when you joined? How far on a scale of 1 to 10 have they been met?

Specifically, has anyone submitted their best hub articles as writing samples to help get a job? I'm not talking about re-using hubs to publish somewhere else - I just mean using them as part of a resume, as an example of past written work. Thanks!

So after getting fed up with the freelancing website I was working for I started searching around for a new place to write for. So I found Hubpages, and after reading through the user guide (ok I'll admit, I read the first five chapters and skimmed the rest)it looks slightly promising and a little...

My gripe is the new rules and the email Ive just recieved. I have worked hard to make a mixture of hubs. Some more income based than others. I feel you might be taking away part of my small income from this that actually allows me to continue and improve and do better hubs. One hub for example that...
