Adsense Problem

Ok, I started creating hubs almost a year ago. I went through the process of setting up my AdSense and giving Hubpages access. I set up a channel for hubpages.com.

However, in the entire year, I haven't had a single click. That seems ridiculous. (I'm basing this on my channel data) I do get some traffic, I can't imagine 0 clicks.

    What am I doing wrong?

You need to set up individual URL channels for each Hub to be able to track your traffic and clicks in Analytics.

        relache:

Wow, an individual URL channel for each hub! I set it up for Hubpages.com. Does that explain why I get no results when I try to pull reports for a URL channel with hubpages.com itself?

I assume that means I would see the revenue, but I just wouldn't know where it was from...correct? I do have AdSense revenue of course, but nothing showing for Hubpages.

I only set up one tracker for hubpages, and it works fine.  Same with analytics.  I can see what hubs are earning under content and AdSense.  I can also tell which hubs are bringing in viewers who click, through the key words section, under visitors.

Both of these tools tell me how much has been earned from hubpages.

Well, I figured it all out. Just wanted to thank everyone again and explain what happened. It's unlikely anyone else would be so hairbrained as to do this, but just in case...maybe this will help in that unlikely event:

For reasons unknown, I set up HubPages as a Custom URL rather than a URL Channel.  When I went back and corrected this, making it a URL Channel, suddenly there were clicks and revenue. Just like magic, huh?

So anyway, when setting up your URL channel, be sure you don't mistakenly set up a Custom Channel.

    http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Most-Import … -in-Google

<Admin note: snipped URL trackers.  Do not use trackers in the forums, they don't work from here anyway.>

Good suggestion but right now I just need to know things are set up correctly. My hubs aren't fantastic, and traffic is fair at best. I know I could optimize better, choose better topics, and tons of other things. I've had reasonable success elsewhere so I'm thinking something else is going on...I'm pretty sure things aren't set up right or something.

      Thanks for the suggestions.

    Mulberry,

Double check that your adsense id (my account -> property information) is the same as is in the affiliate hubpage box (my account -> affiliate settings)

I include the ca-pub-  text as well in the hubpages adsense affiliate box

I have checked out some of your hubs, refreshed and viewed the hub html, it seems that the adsense id is not changing but I may be wrong.

Drwibble:   I checked that the information you're mentioning matches...it does.

      Any other ideas?
      Thanks!

Some of the things i learned so far : If we all enable Adblockplus on firefox, then we get clicks for each others ?  No. If all of us never clicked on ads on some site that interests us how we can expect others to click on ours ? (Mind you, adsense don't allow encouraging people on clicking on your own ads). So just keep on creating content and make better position of ads. CPC method is now only targeted to newbie clicks, as intermediate and expert users don't click on CPC ads.

Perhaps you may need the hub "The Secret to Making Money on Hubpages" by Aya Katz.

There may be a glitch along the way...I am new and if I understand correctly, I have had 19 impressions through AdSense and I only joined 5 days ago. Is that what you are talking about? If not, sorry to impose! Good luck and have a great day all! big_smile

      ChristyJC:

So taking off from relache's suggestion...do you know about your impressions because you have a URL channel for each hub? Or do you have hubpages as it's own URL channel?

I have AdSense revenue from several sources. Some of which have their own URL channel. But when I pull up reports for my Hubpages channel there is nothing.

Setting up channels allows you to see earnings for individual Hubs, but you should still be seeing a total for HubPages without them.  I think an email to team HubPages is in order.

          Lakeerieartists:
Thanks, that was what I needed to know. That indeed, I should be seeing something in that channel if things are set up correctly. But, I do understand that I need each page with a channel if I want to analyze their individual performance.

          Marisa Wright:
Yes, I agree. At this point I need to see if HubPages can help me figure this out.

Thank you everyone for your assistance!

Hi mulberry, assuming you have the account set up properly on hubpages, the best way to set it up on the adsense end is what relache said, a url channel for each hub so that you can then automatically have your analytics account track them also.  However, I would think that if you show hubpages.com as a channel, that should track your total earnings and total clicks.

I have a url channel for each hub so I can keep a better track of which ones are earning, and which ones need more help.

I just went in on your article about the dog leash. Nice work! The content was good; so were the tips and the resources that you listed. Good Luck!
