Put the "Start a New Hub" button in more places

I'd like to see the "Start a new Hub" button displayed on the "My Account" page.

We've all noticed new Hubbers who can't work out how to start a new Hub. Thing is, I've noticed I have the same problem - and I've been here for ages!  So I think it would be a good idea to have the big green button displayed on more pages.

The "start a new hub" button at the top of the screen doesn't stand out for me at all - in fact I don't think I ever noticed it before.  I also didn't notice the button under my photo on the home page - probably because I never linger there, but go straight to my statistics.  So for ages, when I want to start a new Hub, I've been going to my profile to get the green button!

I'm probably the only established Hubber who is that unobservant, but I'm thinking of newbies here too.

Great idea.  I don't see those buttons either.  I just look at the top of the screen & click on that white "start a new hub" button.

    I just have to ask...

Have you never noticed that you can start a new Hub from the green button link that's at the top of all your Hubs, right next to the edit/stats/delete buttons too?

Yes, but I'm never in a Hub when I decide to write a new one - I'm usually on my stats page, where there isn't one.

There IS a "start a hub" link on the stats page, at the top.

Isn't it funny how we all get used to how we do something.  I had to hunt down the green button you were referring to because I don't believe I've ever used it to start a hub.  I've always used the one at the top of the page.

I think they should put a button between every forum thread on the hubitivity that says "Hush and write a hub now", as a gentle reminder to periodically write a hub.  I'm kidding of course.  Look at me, it's been a month since I've produced a hub.  LOL

I like this reasoning.... forums being used more than hubs being written  ... takes up server space and less generated income for hubbers and hubpages altogether leads to bills not getting paid and places filing for bankruptcy bcuz the paper stock says it worth what its not.. generated revenue and cash flow keep the website operating.  .... Relache you've been to hub HQ... is the building big or small.. the bigger the lease the more revenues need to be generated to pay bills and gain net profit... i second the notion of extra buttons to start a new hub to draw eyes to the tab...im a good example also... 3 months and only 12 hubs bcuz the forums get addicting and eyes hardly gaze off it

Yes Mel, I know what you mean!  Maybe you've hit on something here:  in the Questions section you have a choice to answer OR start a new Hub on the subject - would it be going too far to have a "start a new Hub" as the fifth button on a forum post?

Maybe that is a bit extreme, but I've thought of another option.

When you arrive at HubPagse and are not logged in, there's a "join" button highlighted in green on the top bar.  Once you're logged in, how about "start a new Hub" being highlighted in green instead?

There is a start a new hub button on every single page. Adding more will only create clutter.

No there isn't, there's a "start a new Hub" in the top navigation bar - which I agree, you can see from every page, but it is clearly not visible enough or newbies wouldn't struggle with it so much.

The big green button on the profile is a bit wasted because once you've set up your profile, you don't visit there very often.  But most people look at their stats often, and a big green button there might be a good "nudge".

Misha, you know your way around already.  Haven't you noticed all those new Hubbers who can't work out how to start a new Hub?

If they are THAT - umm - lost, I seriously doubt any extra button will help. As Glen said it's on top of EVERY page. smile

Then why does HubPages feel it's worth highlighting the "join" button, which is also on every page?

I've accepted people don't like the idea of putting the big green button in more places, but I don't see what it would hurt to highlight the existing one in the same way they highlight "join".  As Mel says, it might sting some of us into action a bit more often!
