After being away for a while, I want to get back to writting Hubs. I started a blog but life has gotten in the way of it (an a few other things). Anyway, like I was saying... I have a slew of ideas I want to write about but am unsure of where to publish them. On HubPages or on my blog? How do you decide where to publish what?

Well, what is your goal of writing?

The only thing that I can tell you is that more personal writing, such as stories and other conversational content, normally don't create a whole lot of search traffic(read: revenue), but our community of readers and Hubbers are second to none.

Also, if you're an active member of the Hubber community, meeting people and chatting here in the forums, commenting on other Hubs and joining the fan clubs of who you enjoy reading then you'll definitely get some good readership and feedback on your writing.

I have a niche blog and I have recently started hubbing.  (I also write on Squidoo).  I publish on all three of these platforms.  I am at the point now where when I decide on what I want to write about on a given day, I just know which platform will work the best for that particular idea.  I bounce around between all three on a regular basis.

My goal of writting is to have someone read it smile But I want it to be quality info and preferably a one-stop-shop to whatever it may be the person is looking up by providing a lot of resources (assuming it's generic search engine traffic or even HubPages search traffic). And, of course, make a little something from ad clicks. That's why I love HubPages and am at conflict with where to publish what. I want it to be read and found by the search engines so that others besides just the HubPages community are reading it.

I really like the HubPages platform and how it keeps growing.

That's sort of my question. I started a blog for more personal reflections. But now I want to write about some spiritual and other things and am having trouble deciding where to put them...on my blog or HubPages?

I think this is the best answer for me, thanks Jenny. I like that...really I want my quality articles on HubPages and my blog to just be a reflection of those if I choose to comment on them.

If I could, I would prefer to send blog traffic to my Hubs, but it seems to work the other way around smile It seems as though my keyword research and article writing around those keywords pays better (both financially and readership wise) when published on HubPages

Post it everywhere - that's how you get backlinks.

Choose one place, where you put the main, long, original article, then publish shorter, teaser articles everywhere else, with links to the main, long one.

If I understand correctly, hubpages doesn't like teaser-type hubs w/ a link to the main content, right? hmm

We don't mind if you are writing original content that links to another destination, as long as the Hub isn't unfinished or irrelevant to what you are linking to.

My 3 blogs are all different, so I separate out the topics.

All topics related to the San Francisco Bay Area goes on my HubPage, all topics related to making money online and avoiding scams are going on my site blog, and all topics related to my life in general or random nothingness goes to my personal friends-only blog hosted at LJ.

    The difference is that,

    (1) You get 100% revenue when you post in your blog (You get Get traffic by Submiting it to social bookmarking sites)

When you make a hub you have to share revenue, and you also have to get traffic from other sources as people who mostly visit from hub pages, like hubbers do not click ads.

    (2) If your topic has importance for the present season publish it in blog(like news, current informations and activities, small pieces of advices.etc. And in case of Ever green topics publish it in Hub Pages.

You hit it right on for me also. Point 1 is part of why I wanted to start a blog. Point 2 - the Evergreen content - that's what I put on HubPages. Thanks!
