So sad, it really took away some of the excitement about these games.

This is very sad but I'll bet he would still want it to be an exciting Olympics. I'm sure he would want to be remembered as a great competitor and not let this tragety ruin the games.smile

That is a pretty big assumption. The games are more important?

      hmm

        No, I think it's a correct assumption.

Olympians work hard and long to get to the Olympics and I'm sure he was no exception.

They are not blaming the track for the accident saying he just lost control of his sled.

I agree. They were just wondering if the Georgian athletes will march into the stadium. I hope they do, it would be a great tribute to him.

What they need now is an emotional lift and I hope they get some help from the other atheletes as well! It would be a shame if they didn't.

I think you're right, sneaks. he died living his passion.
may this young athlete rest in peace.
I hope also the Georgian athletes march in, as a tribute.
the emotional lift will be there, I'm sure. probably more vigilance also. should be very exciting games this year.

I think the Luge track is down for good unless the can slow it down. It's way too fast. Sad story.

They paid tribute to the luger in the opening ceremonies. There were a couple of very touching moments; when the Georgian athletes walked in and when there was 1 minute of silence.

I heard about that. How awful. They should've taken better safety precautions before this happened.

That's tragic. Do they wear helmets in that sport?

  15. rebekahELLE profile image85
    rebekahELLEposted 14 years ago

yes, they do wear helmets, there were complaints that the track was just too fast.  he was only 21, not quite as experienced as some of the others. it's so dangerous.
I just read that they're reopening the track...!
