And now I'm pretty sure I'll need a brain transplant. This one is worn out.

Okay, I will admit that I've made a few mistakes, and I'm still climbing the learning curve, and technically there are actually 4 days between the 8th and the 11th(not as catchy a title though), but overall I've been finding that my fellow hubbers are fantastic people and I am very excited about joining this community at large and the foodies in particular.

I hope this isn't flagged as being promotional, and I'm sorry if it is (again I'm a little dain bramaged), but you may notice if you read my hubs that I don't necessarily stick to recipes in style or content with my "food writing". I find the stories and ideas that surround food are as often as not at least as interesting as the food itself...but there are a few stories and ideas missing.

    YOURS!!!

I really want to start interacting with people in the comments section, and a few times I directly invite it. I consider the comments to be as important as anything I've written.

Food is naturally a phenomenon of fellowship and congeniality. In my own life, some of my most vivid memories surround food, and I've tried to share some of those thoughts and memories. I hope you'll come and share them.

    Be Well

Way to go Chef Mac and welcome to HP. This probably should have been posted in the challenge forum and you could post the links to your hubs only in that forum.  The only other place they're allowed is in the Extreme Makeover forum.

Anyway good job and when are you starting the next 30?

I put up two today, but I wanted to get as much of the writing as I had already available to work with up as quickly as I could. Can't say how long the next 30 will take me, but I would like to have 100 hubs within the next two months or so, though I'm not holding myself to that. I haven't spent enough time visiting fellow hubbers work and leaving comments and rating, which strikes me as just as important to getting my own stuff up.

Welcome Chef.  I had a quick look at your Hubs - I was expecting cr@p Hubs considering the rate you've published them, but you seem to have some good content there.

A couple of points - please don't use profanity, this is an Adsense site and it's not allowed under Adsense rules.  Any offending Hubs are likely to be unpublished - it's just a question of when they get noticed.

Secondly, are all your Hubs original?   If any of your content is already published elsewhere (such as on your blog), you'll find your Hubscores dropping like a stone, all your links will become no-follow, and the Hubs won't earn well.

Thirdly - I'd suggest spending a day or two refining your Hubs before plunging into another thirty.  You have some overlong paragraphs and your layouts aren't optimised for ads.  I wrote a "HubPages Tips" Hub which you might find helpful, and Darkside has some more detailed Hubs on Capsules etc.

First of all yes, all my stuff is original.

Profanity, as such is not prohibited by my reading of the Adsense bylaws and the Hubpages policies. Pornography and obscenity are prohibited, there is a specific and legal difference. Granted if someone in an official capacity wants to argue that "the standards of the community" precludes the use of some of my language, I will edit for content. However, I've had a few hundred views, and so far you're the only one to complain, so for now my writing stands as is. Even in a PG movie I'd be allowed to use the F-word up to three times. In fact, I believe Adsense has already reviewed my work for adherence to policy and their response has been to begin processing my first payment.

Lastly, while I would admit I've been working on a learning curve and a few of my hubs could use some tweaking (which they will get) I'm writing to entertain and inform readers. Optimizing for advertising isn't my chief concern, and if it was, I think the quality of my writing would suffer. Granted I am concentrating on a niche, food & cooking, which lends itself to monetization, however I won't ensalve myself to it. At the moment my click-through rate is actually better than I expected, so I must be doing something right.

I like your stuff, after taking only a cursory view. I think Marissa's advice is spot on.

Another thing-- you need to reduce some of your photos to 1/2 or even 1/4 size if the resolution is not high. It will make things look a lot better.

You can put a block of text up high-- or even put a half size image next to it, or next to the second block of text.
Look around and you will see what layouts look easy to read on a screen.

I like food and cooking too, so I will be looking for your work.

    Good luck, and Welcome!
