Can I link multiple times to sxc.hu without a penalty?

   I often use http://www.sxc.hu to get my images from since they have a great selection of royalty free pictures. I would like to give credit where it is due even though its not required.
   
   But I worry about if sxc.hu is exempt from the rule about linking too many times to the same domain unless its considered a major web site. Then getting a penalty applied to my hubs.
   
   I believe either iStockPhoto.com or GEttyImages.com now owns sxc.hu
   
   Is sxc.hu exempt from this rule?
   If not could it be added to the exempt list please?

      I was glad to see your post, because I agree with you that sxc.hu is one of the best free photo sites around. This site is always my first choice.
      
      I don't know if sxc is exempt from the overly promotional multiple-linking rule; if it isn't, it should be. Hopefully, you'll get an authoritative response here.
      
      Of course, you can always include the photographer's link in the caption to a photo you use, although the link will not be hyperlinked. So, until we can insert hyperlinks into photo captions, your question is kind of moot, unless you want to do a separate "credits" text capsule somewhere in your Hub.

         Thanks for your support Sally. An authoritative response is exactly what I am after here.
         
         It would be great if HP would publish a list of all the sites that are exempt.
         While sites like Google, Yahoo and Wikipedia are obvious. Some like sxc are not.

   Or at least be more specific about what "well-known Web resources which you don't have any personal interest in" means. It could be said that a Hubber who uploads photos to a site like sxc has a personal interest (because you'd want to drive traffic to your photos), but sxc is not a site monetized for members. iStockPhoto is another issue.

      You can try by creating several links to that site and watch whether your site is penalized or not. If it is penalized then just remove those links and everything will be fine.

         And how would I know if my hub was being penalized? Is it made visible? I have no clue and really do not wish to find out the hard way that it is not made visible. And since hub scores fluctuate naturally It would be hard to know this was the cause of the score drop.
         
         I don't see it being a good idea to go and link all of my hubs to the same site and drag down all of my scores in the process to find out.

   I'd like to see sxu.hu added to the whitelist.
   
   As well as morguefile.com and freerangestock.com
   
   But I think sxu.hu has been the best out of the three.

   http://www.sxc.hu/ is a clean domain -- you may link to it as many times as you wish in a Hub without getting penalized for Overly Promotional content.

      It is a very useful web site for great images. I'm glad to know it is in the safe list.
      
      Tip: Some of the image owners there like to know how their pictures are being used. There is a comments section on the right side where you can leave a little note saying I used your image here: insert link back to your hub here..... They get to see their work published and you get a link. Win- Win

         You are absolutely right.  It's a win-win. I've gotten a good amount of traffic from sxc members because I've left comments there.  Some of that traffic has resulted in new HP referrals.

      Thanks so much for putting this question about sxc to rest.
      
      It would be helpful if other "clean domains" were listed somewhere on HP in a whitelist. It would be a good addition to HP Help. If actual domain names couldn't be listed, at least explain in more detail what is a clean domain and what is not.
