I have seen and heard a lot of people lately saying that we need illegal immigrants to do jobs that Americans will not do. So i am curious what exactly will an American citizen not do to feed their children?

Lay sod, that you get paid by the pallet for, 3.00 per pallet. Pick up garbage and landscape on the side of the US Tollways and Freeways, you get paid by the "area" such as 1/4 acre for weed eating, and per bag for trash removal.

Cleaning stables in the many racing paddocks and horse farms, etc.

There are more these are just the ones I am familiar with. However, some people refuse to work in a convenient store, fast food, and gas station too.

Is this what you will not do or is it what you read on some politicians list somewhere?

I worked on the side of the road as an electrician. For a year I was in charge of restoration. I worked with people who could speak no English and were doing these jobs.

The reality is the sod company might get $90.00 or $100.00 for a pallet of sod. The truck driver gets paid and the layers get paid the cutters get paid and the growers get paid. If the sod dies because it was improperly laid these guys have to pick it up for free and lay the new sod for free.

South Florida Go out on SR 7 and drive south towards Boynton beach there are lots of farms. I don't know if all the workers are illegal, I didn't have the moxy to ask for green cards since my boss wouldn't pay me 18.00 to lay the sod but 18.00 to watch them do it was okay.

Actually I belittle myself there. I was in damage control because they will sod the road if you don't stop them.

Alright I have school in the morning Ohma and Mikel. The thing is you don't see them because you don't want their job.

I know one guy came to America thirty years ago and now is a citizen. he worked for $2.00 an hour and now makes $9.00 after 30 years with the same company. He drives a lift, and a pick-up. He is a foreman. Unemployment is $300.00 per week, but if you take the $8.00 an hour job you need two or three, because you have to buy fuel and pay child care that you don't have on unemployment.

2 is better than what I have been paid for over 2 years now...which is 0...

I've used up unemployment, and the next step is what welfare? because the Illegals have all the jobs???? WTF?????

There is a lot of money to be made in phone surveys and collecting for charities. I am going to apply at two places this week, one full time and one part time. They pay 9.00 an hour and some pay that plus commission.

I'm not a people person, I am strong and work hard. I'm too smart to put up with idiots all day. I don't have the patience for that kind of thing.

So you really didn't have jobs just dying to be filled then...

                thanks anyway.

The fact is Faybe that I work at an eight dollar an hour job. I have shovelled horse crap and worked in a poultry processing plant. I have also worked in fast food, c-stores and worked with plenty of Americans while doing it.
So I do not understand when people say that we Americans will not do these things.

Do you have a husband?  Sorry Ohma I know you do.

I am a single mom, I have worked two and three jobs from 1982 to 2005. Then I worked construction. Before construction it cost me 14 hour days away from my kids to make ends meet.

My husbands wouldn't take a job not worth their time.

Hi Ohma, I'm an unemployed loan officer, I shovel horse manure in return for a really nice apartment on the property. I don't mind horse manure - trust me on that one. Chicken processing - no way - I would find something else. besides, with the internet there are lots of  freelance opps and telecommuting jobs.  Just make sure you check on forums to see if they are legit.

    3. meevamarie profile image62
meevamarieposted 14 years agoin reply to this

a whole lot - you'd be surprised, because there are safety nets. They would not spray poisonous insect sprays all over corn fields, they would not stand in the heat and harvest or prune off high up in trees. The illegals do mostly all of the manual heavy labor. Most Americans would get a heart attack in the first few hours. Especially since so many of us are (how should I say...) rather pudgy?

      1. Ohma profile image61
Ohmaposted 14 years agoin reply to this

The rather pudgy I concur with but as I said in an earlier post I think it is a very misguided assumption to assume that All Americans will not do these jobs.

I do the books for a guy who has a construction company, all of his employees are white or are legal residents of the US. He competes daily with businesses where the owner is an illegal or has hired predominately illegals to work for them.

He is making a lot of money because he is around to do the warranty work! Most of these fly by night companies run by illegals will do substandard jobs and never answer the phone to come back to repair their shoddy work.

That's the reality of illegal immigrant workers.

Hey Mike, not sure what kind of work you do but if you can do tradework then you might want to get the HotSheet from http://industrialtradesman.com/  The HotSheet is a list of upcoming construction jobs including Shutdowns, New Construction, Supervision, and even International.  I worked shutdowns over the summers when I was in college (after the Army) and the money was great. Once you get on with a firm they will normally take you on the next job.  Shutdowns usually last a week to a month and are normally 7/10's or 7/12's + per diem.  The HotSheet lets you schedule your work so you're never out of work for very long.  There's a lot of travel involved but getting paid $1200 - $1800 a week was well worth it.

History in growing nations generally always parallels earlier times in some respect.  Didn't the great plains tribes of Native Americans suffer a similar problem with what they deemed to be illegal immigration?? hmm

    1. Padrino profile image61

Well of course that would require a Demoncratic approach as opposed to an Autocratic reaction wouldn't it? hmm

I don't think the American public would agree to giving up everything (including jobs) to the illegals for the sole benefit of a barren patch of reservation land would they? hmm

    Prostitution
    Deal Drugs
    Murder
    Grow drugs
Provide shelter for a sex offender
    Co-habitate with a criminal
    Any form of hate crime

Does it count if we don't have children? I have a part time job, only work a couple days as well as other sources of income but I know I could make more working at something I don't want to do.

I think when you toss a family into the mix it's a different story. I know I would take a job doing something I really do not enjoy doing just to get the extra dough for my family because I would be able to provide more and better things to them.

My daughter works for a residential group home for mentally handicapped adults - there are lots of companies out there.  You need to be willing to change adult diapers & feed adults with disabilities.  Turn around is high because a lot of people can't handle it.
