For those of you with other internet sites that are affiliate based or directly sell products, I have found an additional site to promote your work.
The site works by creating a custom link you use in the place of any link (either external or internal) in your content. Each time the link is followed you get credits towards an online ad campaign.
It is "freemium" - you get so much for free and can pay for additional credits.
The free version gives you a starting balance worth 100 ad impressions. I had added the links to a couple of my hubs that are closely related and send a lot of traffic between them. So far they are generating more credits than I am using in my ads so I have been able to advertise 2 of my affiliate sites for free.
I am only in the assessment stage at the moment but this looks promising.
Hubbers should remember that these links will count as external links to the same site so more than 2 in a hub will get you flagged.
This type of thing could be of use to a lot of hubbers with a more diversified online strategy.
There is also an affiliate program that gains you more credits without disadvantaging your referrals. In the interests of full disclosure and forums rules I will not place a link but my profile has all the details.
So, what does everyone think about this type of program?
You could but unless it was an Amazon sales pitch hub I think it would probably by ineffective. Having said that, anyone who does arrive on your hub via the ads would be a proven "clicker" so they may convert adsense well.
I don't pretend to be an expert on this type of viral advertising - thats why I started this thread, hoping some of the gurus will drop in and give their opinion. As long as it is not in some way illegal I am happy to be getting free advertising to a few of my landing pages. Will see how it goes.
I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I can tell you that this is not 'viral' marketing.... viral marketing is a phenomenom which no amount of non-organic traffic can manipulate.... the idea of viral content is that it gets picked up and shared around the web by people who love it, can never be replicated or 'produced' its just one of those unexplainable things.
Sorry, nothing constructive to say about the site you mention, although keep us all updated! You should know yourself within a month or two whether it is successful
Thanks for your thoughts Ryan.
I agree that the use of 'viral' is marketing spin. I am conducting a controlled experiement of the effects and detailing the results on my Online Revenue blog. I have given it one month to increase the traffic to two of my sluggish sites as measured by analytics. My only investment will be my time so I will let you know how I get on.
