   Gee, I'm SO glad we have these guys watching out for tax payers interest against those evil profit mongering wall street types.
   
   Let's raise taxes on the "rich" (i.e. anybody who works for a living)  so we can pay attorneys $200K to look at porn all day because we need to be protected from evil CEOs!
   
   Am I the only one offended by this?

      Back when I was writing calibration guidelines for Delphi, one of the guys who worked in a cube near mine got caught wasting company time looking at porn in the internet.
      
      He was fired.
      
      But the fact that a guy who worked for Delphi looked at porn while on the job does not mean that everything Delphi makes or does is worthless.

         Agreed, but as you said, the guy was fired.  It might surprise you to know that I once worked for a government agency.  It wasn't a good fit.  Think corporate big business environment, only 10 times worse.  At least a business has to be responsible to it's customers.  Well if they want to stay in business.  Since government agencies run off tax money, the essentially have guaranteed funds.  Therein lies the difference.  A firm can be penalized for poor performance a government agency is forever....at least until the next revolution.

         This is not just one guy. The article shows a wide spread pattern of this type of thing.
         
         Therefore, your anaology does not apply.  Your guy was a cube jockey ... a worker bee.  His supervisor, who was doing his job fired him.  This is good.
         
         However, if a large number of Delphi corporate officers are looking at porn rather than designing or writing or doing what they are supposed to do, then the quality of the supervision goes down and soon nobody is checking the quality of the work being written and so even if the worker bees are NOT looking at porn, the quality of the product would begin to slip.
         
         Standards would not be enforced.  Vision would not be communicated.  etc.
         
         If a few highly paid supervisors at Delphi were doing this, soon everything Delphi did would be worthless.
         
         THAT is what's happening at the SEC.  These are not worker bees. These are Attorneys.  The phrase was "Senior employeeS" .. Plrual...
         
         Nobody is watching these guys. Except the voters.

   A question for those who think that government run healthcare is a good thing.  What makes you think the same thing won't happen with Obamacare?  If it happens in the SEC, it's bound to happen in other agencies too.

      Oh, boy that's what I want, some highly paid bureaucrat watching porn when he's supposed to be making sure I'm getting the health care I need...
