Remember Me Sign In

   How long does Remember Me Sign In keeps login passwords?
   
   Today I lost half an hour or more of potentially profitable time because Remember Me did not recognize me. It asked for my password and after five failed attempts, I pretended to have amnesia. The HubTeam came to my rescue and sent me a verification link; but after putting in a new password, that failed three times because Internet Explorer8 refused to display the web page. Nothing was wrong with my connection as I had internet access. I checked and double checked.
   
   Well, I shut down and was ready to quit. But I had a few more minutes - seven to be precise- before I headed home.Igot into my account easily through Remember Me, wrote a message for the forum, clicked submit; and you guessed correctly.Internet Explorer failed again. At least I have my old password. However, how long will it be before I experience another episode of Hubpages asking for my sign in information? While it is essential, I abhor it. Anyhow, thank you HubTeam for your expeditious response to my plea for help.
   
   Hubbers, if you have had a similar experience or have a comment, I look forward to it.HubTeam I like my present password and do not want to change it. But I have one ready if sign in does not remember me.

   I am not certain but I read somewhere that HP is best suited to using Firefox rather than IE I made the switch because I signed up for Redgage and IE is really bad there. Firefox is much faster and I have not had a single glitch.
   But to your Remember Me question if you just upgraded to IE8 you have to teach your new version all your password because the upgrade chucks them.

   It all has to do with cookies.. For some reason, Internet Explorer doesn't doesn't like them.  Maybe it has something to do with them not being chocolate chip, I dunno...
   
   Personally, I agree with Ohma - Firefox is the way to go, especially for editing hubs.  It has a hell of a lot more tools than IE does, and yes, it's a lot more stable.  Oh, and it likes cookies of all kinds.

   There is one problem with Firefox. According to my computer, it crashed 55 times since I got it. I have had it for one month. Another fact is that it goes Oops! and cannot find Google or Hubpages! Any other suggestions?

      Check your cookie settings.  It has to be something with that..
      
      Click on - Tools, Internet Options, Privacy - you'll see the settings slider.  Click on the sites button, then type in hubpages.com, then click allow.  That should keep the password cookie from HP on your computer.  If you go to a different computer, it's not going to know your password, as you've never typed it in on that computer. 
      
      The Remember Me stores passwords on your computer in the form of cookies.  The only time that the remember me option wouldn't store them is if either you somehow deleted your cookies, or the HP cookie was damaged. 
      
      As far as not being able to display the page.. If every page appears like that, no matter what website you try to load, then it is an IP problem.  You'd have to release and then renew your IP - or wait until it fixes itself.
      
      If it's just one page, it may be due temporary restriction of some pages or on a server.  It happens, regardless of what browser you're using.

   A web site, like hubpages, sets how long a cookie's lifetime is via an expiration parameter. Only staff, probably only a web developer, would know how long they set their cookies for.
   
   I often go very long periods of time without needing to log back in. It almost seems random, but I know it probably isn't.

   Thanks everyone. IE8 came with my HP Pavillion and it does not seem interested in divorcing me.Thus, it shows up unexpectedly.After I scan again for viruses,malware etc. while disconnected from the internet, I will try Mozilla Firefox again. Meanwhile, I use Google, Ask,Bing and allow Yahoo to pinch hit whenI get bases loaded and need to score big time. The sign in forced my hand. I have two options now; and when one does not work, I try the other one.
