I have some poetry that I would like to submit in a hub, just wondered if I should copywrite it first?  Does publishing it here constitute a "poor man's" copywrite?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

Yes it does.  However, you have to be aware that anything published on the internet is vulnerable to copying.  Your copyright is only useful if you know someone has copied it!

yup, having a copyright is good, but will not promise you that your stuff will stay safe. Same as a lock on your front door.

    Copyright comes upon your pen
As you write each poetic line
So if some scumbag steals your stuff
You've the right to say "IT'S MINE!"

But finding where the scumbag fenced
    Your masterful strands of rhyme
Is the sort of thing that takes too long
    Costing precious writing time.

Whatever you put on the net expect for it to be copied some how. Honestly don't worry yourself with it and just go about doing what you want to do. Otherwise your going to cause yourself a huge headach and a battle you just can not win.

Good point.  I think I will publish them.  Maybe it will be a form of disclosure and help me forget about the person I wrote it about in the first place.  Thanks to you all!
