Sometimes, hubbers would like to discretely contact another hubber. I have had several emails from hubbers. If I 'know' the hubber, I have no problem opening the email. But if the person is unknown to me or new on HubPages, I am not sure that it's wise to open or respond to the email. You just never know.
HubPages could create a feature much like one that is used on Facebook, where private contact can be made without using email. Such a feature would encourage communication between hubbers while preserving privacy, especially when the person making the initial contact is unknown.
Hey Dolores,
First off, nice to see you again. Second, I do not think it is necessary for a messaging system, within HubPages for contacting another Hub Writer, other than what is already in place.
If you receive a email from a Hub Writer, beit new or old, and you are not sure who it is, then definitely do not respond to the email sent to you. Opening the email is not a problem, because nothing can be sent via HubPages' email system, such as files or anything else.
Should you receive something in your email from someone you do not know, then do not respond, because responding actually gives up your true email account. HubPages' emailing system is really a streamlined forwarding system, and not a true email system. You can respond, but that is when you true email address is revealed.
To create a messaging system, within HubPages, would more than likely take up more bandwidth than wanted.
Hope that helped.
Oh well, that's too bad because sometimes it seems like it would be nice to respond and kind of rude not to. I didn't realize that it would take up a ton of bandwidth but so it goes. Thanks, Cagsil. There is so much I don't know or understand about the technology, and I really appreciate your pointing these things out.
In order to respond without giving your email address, just respond from HubPages - their profile page - a little more time to do it, but not much!

I was quite stunned a week or more ago when someone made a statement on one of my hubs that she had commented twice and I had snubbed her by not replying. Her comment had been particularly flattering, and probably because I've spent a lifetime being flattered by others only to find that they wanted...

I was sent a message through hubpages, but when I replied to it, the reply bounced back as undeliverable. Is there anyway I can reply to the message through hubpages, so when they next login to hubpages they can see my reply? Or is sending messages completely separate to hubpages? (I note that when...

Just for a bit of background - I have been writing online for years, and literally have millions of words "out there". Only once did I have an AdSense account, and if I remember correctly, it was for a blog that is rarely used. It still appears, if I right-click on the blog, and view the...

Hmmm...I'm not sure why, but for some reason my hub profile page seems to have gone south.. because my stories and hub activity has moved way...way down on the page. I scrolled all the way down almost to the bottom of my page before i could see them. What to do?

Could the HubPages team please explain why some of us are getting warnings about non-compliant Hubs, but others are having their Hubs unpublished with no warning?I saw this post on another thread today:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/74842#post1623078and it's not the first time I've seen Hubbers...

It would be delightful if there was an easier way to contact some of the Hubbers. I have not done that often, since transferring from Squidoo, however - each time I wished to, I had to remember how to do it. When I am on my profile page, and someone shows up who I am following, the message in blue...
