Hi all. I just discovered this site and signed up without really knowing what I want to write about. I'm familiar with several subjects that might interest some but I'm not sure what steps to take, now that I joined Google Ad Sense. Do I write first and then find a topic group to join, or do I join a group first. Do I not join a group at all but create my own topic? For instance, I could write about being a preschool teacher, or I could post a poem. What do you think? I'd like to make some money. What's the best way to attract readers? Thanks for your help.

Joining groups is not really that relevant for building an audience. When creating a new hub, you will need to specify a category/sub-category, so it may be worthwhile for you to study the available topics in advance.

If making money is your primary goal, you should write narrowly about things you know about - well-researched topics with matching keywords and tags. Google Adwords has a keyword research tool that you can use to find high-paying keywords within your field.

There are hubbers here who have written extensively on the subject, also check out the help menu and tutorial.

Whatever you do, it takes time to build an audience - hubbers usually do not click on ads, and the search engines need to index your hubs and give them a ranking so that they will be found. So find your niche, do the homework, give it time, and keep on writing.

    hi welcome,  smile

maybe take some time to familiarize yourself with the site. there are so many great how-to hubs, even a topic category for Hubpages specifically.  also there's the learning center which you can click on at the bottom of the screen.
write about what you know or love or think you could write about well. read lots of hubs. there are quite a number of pre-school hubs. if you've been or are a teacher, think about what you  search for and write about it. there is a lot a teacher can write about from many perspectives.

enjoy the site. it's a great place to write and there are some equally great people here from all over the world.

Welcome to HubPages smile the best material you will most likely create is  that which you are passionate and knowledgeable about so I recommend, start there big_smile A audience with the same passions will find you once you start promoting your Hubs. For now, do a rough draft with key points and write Hubs. Set up a schedule and a routine with a rhythm will begin. Not to mention risk of addiction to the site wink

    Hello, welcome to Hubpages.

You did the right thing by asking.

I just jumped right in and have written several hubs but really I still have a lot to learn as far as Hubpages is concerned and the goal of making some money on the side.

If you are here just to share to the whole world your expertise in whatever field, go ahead, write, publish, have fun while you're at it. And then learn how to market them to reach the widest audience as you can, as I am now beginning to learn about.
