I have a hub that I wrote that is just, well...silly...kinda humorous but not helpful to anyone in anyway and sure not attracting any attention. But, today it gave me an idea that I think has some real value to it and I would like to use the same theme but dive into the deep end of it. Do I beef it up and change the title or do I do a totally new hub and delete the old one. What are the consequences of deleting hubs?
This also holds true for two other hubs that I did on my first day in here when what I posted turned out to be duplicate content as I had previously emailed them to a friend who posted them on a now inactive website. I had told him he could do what he wanted with them at the time I sent them knowing nothing of Hubpages then. So my second question would be if he can still access that website and remove them can I have them recognized on Hubpages as original content?
Thanks in advance, J
Hiya, I just had a quick look at your hubs, and I am not sure which one you are talking about, but they look fine. I would think that if you wanted to expand your ideas from your hub that you have already written, write another one, but say it is part two of the idea, and link it from your first one. Deleting hubs is okay, but unless it is really not very good or a duplicate content, don't delete it. just make sure that you polish it a bit, and add a few links and tags. you will be surprised at how much that makes a difference. And as for the one that you have on another site, I would just forget it, or if you know where it is, make sure that it is on an obsolete site, and rewrite it, but change the wording around, and add different pictures. Never just copy it as it was, because it will get flagged as duplicate. Maybe change the title and write it slightly differently. But I think it it's best to just start again. Okay? hope it helps.
I have to agree with Nell's suggestions. Improving on the original hub and writing a second part is the most favored option. This way, you can attract traffic through two hubs vs. one. Also, you can link hub one to two and vice versa. If you use any other sites for backlinking, that increases the probability for the reader to check out the other hub. As for duplicate content, could your friend delete them from his site? If so, rewrite and refine your hub with targeted wording, tags, photos and so on. It doesn't take much effort to remove the "duplicated hub" flag.
Thank you both for those REALLY GOOD ANSWERS! And for taking the time to respond! The Hub I am talking about is the Egg thingy and it's just silly poetry (that's not putting it down it really is silly, it was meant to be silly) but it gave me an idea for something that I am really excited about and that I think will prove very valuable to others. So, following your suggestions I think I will write my new hub and link it to the silliness just for fun! I like FUN!
Thanks again, J
Hi, that sounds intriguing lol I will pop over to take a look. nice to meet you.
I LOVE them!!!! They crack me up!!! I'm laughing (and I needed a good one tonight)! Don't delete these -- these are waaaayyyyyy too precious!
One suggestion: add a comment capsule. I wish you had one because I would have left you a funny comment. Instead, rated you up and funny! Keep the fun coming!!!
Delete no hubs. Re-write, edit, re-work, do whatever you like, but no deleting hubs.
Got It - Hub Rules now I have three under the letter D -
No Dissing, No Duplicates and No Deleting!
Glad I made you laugh Beth....that is eggsactly what I intended to do when I wrote those poems - give people a laugh! They cracked you up? Well, you really did get into the spirit of play! And I will add a comment capsule - Thanks!

Yesterday I spent some time deleting some of my Hubs that were performing badly is this a good idea as my Hub score seems to have taken a big hit.

Some people say you should never, ever delete a hub...only edit it and such. What makes you just completely trash your own hubs?

It is advantageous to delete one's own low scoring hubs that have little traffic. I figure getting rid of the low score would increase the average of the rest of one's hubs. What do you think?

It seems the News Capsule is now out of favour. That's a bummer, because over the last couple of years, it's been recommended as a great thing to add your Hubs to keep the content "fresh".As a result, I (and many other Hubbers) have a News capsule on every @##$%^& Hub. That means...

I have just posted two new Hubs, and one of them has received my first ever "duplicate content" message. The message says that a large part of the content of the Hub is on other sites. This is correct. The Hub contains a well known inspirational poem that I have always found helpful, but...

I have a hub that I have yet to publish. I've been working on it and then this warning suddenly shows up "WARNING [?]NOTE: A substantial portion of the content on this hub appears on other pages". How do I get rid of this warning? And how can I find exactly which part of this hub has the...
