Code capsule has a problem

   Please have a look at my latest hub (http://hubpages.com/hub/HTML5-Tutorial- … nd-Effects) and then the first code capsule. A horizontal scrollbar is used but it shouldn't do that. The title element is now sticking out in an ugly way. Shouldn't it break the text by space to prevent this from happening? I know it's not straightforward because at other times you may want to display the code unchanged...

   hello, I have almost no knowledge on HTML. So don't bother about my comment. This is what I understood with my little knowledge:
   
   I find no problem with the horizontal scroll bar.
   
   The text in between <title> </title> is in a single line that is supposed to be. Text between a command is shown similarly when we check the page source from a browser. Browsers show the text between a command in a single line as well.

      Well, I'm mainly concerned about the weird way the colored lines simply stop when you scroll to the right. Each line of the code has its background colored in either white or light gray/blue. Perhaps breaking the title is not such a good idea but shouldn't it continue to color the other lines as well so the title one doesn't stand out?

            The bug is fixed although now every code capsule has a horizontal scrollbar (I'm using Firefox 3.6.13). See for example that hub or my other HTML5 tutorials. In each case, none of the lines of code are that wide.
            
            When I inspect the list items in Firebug the list items are indeed wide. This leads the user to believe that there might be something to see there (as scrollbars tend to appear only when needed). I don't see the exact cause yet though but I think this should be modified so that it matches the user's expectations of scrollbars.
            
            I'll post here if I see other bugs or if I have suggestions to improve HubPages.

   There are times when I might use the code capsule, but most of the time I'd just want to wrap anything like that in PRE tags. You allow that in the "html" mode, but you make it clumsy to get a decent looking amount of whitespace following that section.
   
   Ideally, I'd want the "code" capsule to have options for scrollbars/no scrollbars, coloring/nocoloring but I'd be happy enough with just a flat PRE option.

      Thanks for the feedback.  If I understand you correctly, you would like to see the following:
      
      1) Ability to add blank lines easiy (preferably using a <pre> tag)
      2) Ability to choose between scrollbars/no scrollbars
      3) Ability to colorize/not colorize
      
      I'll add these three items to our list of features to consider for the code capsule.

         Nope, though other folks have asked for blanks. I use white images when I want extra space.
         
         I just want a plain, unadorned PRE block as it was befor all the fancy CSS descended upon HTML.
