Brand New Star Wars Lego Sets For 2013 - All The New Sets

Updated on October 27, 2012

If you are a massive fan of Lego Star Wars then this is a page you will not want to miss out on. Here we will review all the new Star Wars Lego sets coming out in 2013. We will tell you what new build are coming, which minifigures and when the release dates for these new sets is likely to be. This is your one stop guide to new Star Wars Lego for 2013.

Lego Star Wars is one of the most popular themes that the toy company Lego have ever produced. The theme first went into production back in 1999. Since then there have been various new sets released and the popularity of these Lego sets has grown and grown. The company have the licence to go on producing these toys all the way up to 2022 so we are expecting there to be lots more new sets coming out in the future. For now though we are going to take a look at the new Star Wars sets coming in 2013. As time goes by and we get more details on the new releases we will update our page and bring you all the latest information.

The Rancor

The New AT-RT Lego Set

New Star Wars Lego For 2013

So first up there are eight new regular builds released based on Star Wars. These are expected to have a release date of sometime in January but as is often the case they may pop up sometime in late December, so there is a chance you could indeed get these just in time for Christmas. Lego may yet to choose to stagger the release so they may not all come at the same time. Here are the eight new sets we are aware of though.

Clone Troopers v Droidekas Battle Pack 75000

The second release is another battle pack. You tend to find with these that they are quite small and there is nothing really to build, there are only around 120 pieces included with this one. You do once again get four minifigures these being two Clone Troopers and two Droidekas. The battle packs are seen as a good way to increase your collection of minifigures without spending so much money. As this is quite a small set we are expecting it to retail at around $15.

Republic Troopers vs Sith Troopers - 75001

First up then is one of the smaller sets, this Battle pack is going to contain four minifigures which will be two Republic Troopers and two Sith Troopers. As this is expected to be one of the smaller sets this is likely to be one of the cheaper ones also. It comes with the item number 75001. There is also a good looking little speeder in grey and red which looks really good.

AT-RT - 75002

The AT-RT also known as the All Terrain Recon Transport is the first real build of the new 2013 sets. This is likely to be a popular one as it contains three minifigures one of which is Yoda. The other two figures are a Assassin Droid and a Clone Trooper. There is also a small build of a Sniper Driodeka. This will probably retail at around the $20 mark.

The A-Wing

Rancor's Pitt With Jabba's Palace Set On Top

A-Wing - 75003

Fans of Star Wars Lego will know that this is a remake of an old release that came out back in 2006. The new A-Wing has a slightly different feel and will contain the minifigures Admiral Ackbar, Han Solo and an A-Wing pilot. The original release of the A-Wing was very popular so Lego will hope this new version will do just as well.

Z-95 Headhunter - 75004

This new build looks like being a good one also and will contain the minifigures General Pong Krell and two Clone Troopers.

Rancor Pit - 75005

This is a set that fans have been wanting for a long time. This was previewed at Comic Con so we know a lot more about it. This comes with a little Rancor figure which is very nicely done and also Luke Skywalker, a Gamorrean Guard, Malakili and a Skeleton as the minifigures. The set is designed to fit below Jabba’s Palace which is a set that came out in 2012, we have put a picture up to show you just how that works. The build consists of a large room with a big gate which the Rancor comes through. When attached to Jabba’s Palace there is a trap door which a minifigure can fall through down into the pit. This is a really good looking set and as you can see from the picture it is worth buying just for the Rancor alone.

BARC Speeder - 75012

Fans will be aware that this is a remake of an old set. The BARC Speeder 7913 came out quite a few years ago and was only a small set. This one is going to be bigger. There will be four minifigures with it and it comes from the Clone Wars theme.

Umbaran MHC - 75013

The Umbaran MHC or Ombaran Mobile Heavy Canon as it is also known looks like being quite a large set. This again is likely to have four minifigures and will also come from the Clone Wars line.

Star Wars Planets Series 3

Planet Endor

Two New Star Wars Planet Series'

As well as the standard Lego Star Wars sets we are also getting six new Planet releases. The Lego Planet Series’ are a relatively new concept. They are small Lego sets that usually consist of a little planet which you can hang up, a figure and a small build. The second series came out over the summer of 2012 and we are expecting series 3 to have a release date of January 2013. Then we assume late in the year series 4 will also come out.

Kamino with JedI Starfighter

The first new release from series 3 will be the planet Kamino with a little model of a JedI Starfighter. It will also have a R4-P17 minifigure included with it.

Coruscant - Republic Assault Striker

Second is the planet Coruscant with a Republic Assault Striker as the small build. This one will have a Clone Pilot as the minifigure for it.

Asteroid Field - TIE Bomber

The final release we are aware of from series 3 is an asteroid field, we are currently unsure how this will look as usually the planet that comes with the build is pretty simple, so it will be interesting to see how they come up with an actual asteroid field. With this you get a TIE Bomber and a TIE pilot as the minifigure. All of the sets from the planet series tend to be quite cheap and you can usually pick them up for around $10.

Hoth - Snowspeeder

The first new planet set from series 4 will be the planet Hoth and a small build of a snowspeeder. We also assume there will be a minifigure which will ride the snowspeeder. We are guessing series 4 will be released later in the year than the third series of Planet sets.

Endor - B-Wing

Endor is of course on of the most iconic planets or moons in the Star Wars story so this will probably be a popular set. With this one you also get a mini version of the B-Wing, this is interesting as we have seen some quite large sets of the B-Wing so it will be strange seeing it in miniature form. There is of course also a B-Wing pilot included.

Alderaan - Tantive IV

The final set to be release from the Planets series 4 will be the planet Alderaan with a mini Tantive IV model. This one will also have a Rebel Trooper included as the minifigure.

As the release of these new sets gets closer we will of course find some more pictures coming out and some more details. We will keep updating our page with all the latest news so feel free to check back whenever for the latest updates.

As you can see there are lots of exciting new releases to look forward to in 2013. Lego are keen to keep bringing out more Star Wars sets as these are always big sellers. The reality is that they have already exhausted all the main ships from the films and TV shows but they are still finding new and exciting ideas that they can transform into brick format. Along with that they are not shy about re-releasing old sets with a new twist. We are pretty sure there will be a second wave of new Star Wars Lego sets released over the summer of 2013, so there is going to be plenty to look forward to.

Personally I'm excited for the Z-95, Hoth Planet with Speeder and the Old Republic battlepack most of all. All of the planets sound good this time around, though. So far I've only ever bought the Death Star pack from series 1, but I could easily see getting all 6 of these.
