    Chess, it takes lots of time and is very challenging.  I like Aggravation as well, even tho' I think it is a kid's game.

    Chris' pick of chess is a good one. I'd have to say +1 to that.

    Another favorite for me is Scrabble, for two to four players. I'm biased though, as Scrabble is a personal favorite.

    Yahtzee is excellent one as well.

    I will have to agree with chess as most can start playing anytime. A quick search for 'free internet chess server' in Google will allow you get another enthusiast to play with you in minutes.

    I prefer backgammon to chess; chess can go on for an eternity!!!

    Anything by Fantasy Flight Games. Mansions of Madness, Arkham Horror, Talisman, Battlestar Galactica, etc.

    Also Scrabble, which is a personal favorite. smile
