What is your method against procrastination?

(You know - when you DON'T want to start working). I try to avoid vampire galleries (sites with hundreds of interesting/funny photos like 9gag). I also try not to enter any social site while working, but still - I do lose half my day in any other activities than the work I am supposed to do smile. So - how do you manage procrastination?

I have OCD when it comes to getting things done. So, I just do them and get them off of mind.

I wish I could develop mild hypo mania and OCD, but I can't smile

I try to create an incentive for getting it done.  For instance, if I don't want to do my work, I'll tell myself I can do something fun once it's done.  This way, I'm working past the chore toward the reward.  Good luck to you!

Thank you. I try to break the task in easier tasks, but this is also a subject for procrastination and therefore I face resistance from my own mind. "Leave it for later" and "It can wait a bit".

Motivation. Read something to inspire, research and become interested in it, tell yourself you can't do something else until it is done, etc.

Yes. This always works for interesting subjects.

But what about your 9-to-5 work waiting on your desk? It is rarely "interesting" and "inspirational" for most of the people.

I don't write about my work usually and it doesn't wait. My occupation is as a private swim instructor part time and a full time student.

I always have my TODO list with me. I cross them out as I finish one at a time. It is my best method to avoid procrastination.

I always think about how nice i will feel mentally when i am done with my pending work. This always does the trick to motivate me to get up. The idea that i shall be "free" after i perform my task is really motivating.
