Are you in favor of Government run health care?

Considering how well they have done with SS, Medi care and Aide, Fanny May  and Freddie Mac?

I don't know *that* much about it, but in general our government seems like their not too good at managing complicated processes and I can't imagine anything more complicated than healthcare.

I would guess that it would be a disaster.

The disaster in medical care started with medical insurance going beyond the bounds of what insurance is for.  "Third partying" of medical and dental care has led to inflated costs, bureaucratization, unnecessary procedures, "heroic" procedures beyond any semblance of reasonableness, etc.  "What the hey, insurance is paying for it."  WRONG!  YOU are paying for it in insurance premiums and taxes.

All that, in turn, has led to more and more government intervention (call it "involvement" if you are a liberal).  That has, naturally made the situation even worse.  Remember, EGTTTS (everything government touches turns to shinola).

Look at the REALITY of British and Canadian government medical programs if you dare.

NO, I'm not in favor of government-run health care.  I don't want the "government" making decisions about my health care, nor do I want them to dictate what treatment I can or can't have.  That's what it will come to.   I want to pick the doctor I wanna use.   I WANT A CHOICE.

Well Tornado, my response is that same as on the other blog page:

Yes,  my response is to keep the gov't out of it. Mortality rates have continued to climb in this country since WWII because we have a superior health providing system. Any time the gov't runs something you get two things, service declines and costs go up. Take any gov't run plan you choose as an ex. I'll use social security. System is in negative spending and they haven't even felt the full impact of the boomer generation retiring yet. We already pay 15% flat tax to ss. How much will it be after all boomers retire? add 15% ss tax and your income tax 30% and your medicare HI tax of about 1%, now how much do you think the health tax will be? All this before you pay your state, local and property taxes, and all the hidden taxes: Gas tax on every gallon you pump, communication tax on your land and celll phone, as well as on your cable bill. Insurance tax,( yes if you have life or car ins you pay a premium tax, just not disclosed). How about if you buy alcohol, you pay tax, Does your state have a sales tax? Do you drive, your state probably has an excise tax. Do you have an investment? mutual funds etc, correct, sec tax.
So, yes the gov't running health care does scare me, not only for declining service, but the tax that no one is talking about.

PS: To say one has nothing to do with the other is absurd. If they have mismanaged every major social program they handle now, what makes you think this one will be different?
That' like you hiring a contractor to put siding on your house, and he screws up the job, costing you over runs to fix his mistakes. Then your wife hires the same contractor to put a new roof on your house. You question heer pointing out how he messed up the siding job. Your wife replies, what does one have to do with the other?

The same people who vilified FEMA for its' inability to deliver food and water to NOLA flood victims favor handing over 17% of the economy to the federal government.

NO!  I am an unemployed cancer survivor with no healthcare currently, and I DO NOT want socialized medicine.

No.  I'm with you!  What they're looking to do will stifle innovation.  What's the last Canadian or British medical breakthrough that has been brought to the marketplace.  Oh yeah, that's right, Dolly the sheep!  let's be real folks.  When they say "You can keep your own health plan"  That means "We're not going to make you give it up" and we're not going to help you keep it."  In fact it probably means "We're going make sure we  charge so low of a price that insurance companies throw their hands over their head and walk away from you.  We will also continue to print whatever money we need to make up any deficiencies -this will be your children's and their children's bill..

As a person who almost did not survive British health care as a child I am not interested  or impressed.  In fact, I almost died from receiving the wrong injection from a socialized doctor.  My body swelled to twice its size from receiving the wrong tetanus injection and an adult dose at that. Forget about innovation.  More than 60% of folks are happy with their health care.  Mr. Obama the free market says our current system is sustainable.  The rest of the world envies our health care.

Absoulutely not.  It is taking away our rights as people to chose who we want to take care of us.  Let's face it there are a bunch of quacks out there and I certainly don't want to be seen just by anybody.  I want my choice.
