I've written a few hubs on this that I hope you'll find useful but my basic rules of thumb are:

Avoid fried, processed foods and foods with added sugar/ sweeteners - it's as much about what you don't eat as what you do eat.

Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg - I'm sure you've heard it a million times, but it's solid advice. If you fill up on the nutritious stuff then the lbs will fall off.

You'll need a good source of protein - You mention you still do some lifting so protein is important for building and maintaining muscle mass. Lean muscle mass also increases metabolism so you'll be burning fat while at rest! Try free-range eggs and chicken breast.

Avoid fat free, diet and light foods - these often have loads of added sugars and other processed junk. Don't be afraid to eat foods high in essential, healthy fats such as raw nuts, avocado and even grass reared beef/ bison. They'll fill you up and are vital for fat loss.

Don't starve yourself - this is the worst thing you can do. If your diet leaves you feeling deprived then it's only a matter of time until you break it and go on a junk food binge. Fat burning foods leave you feeling satisfied after each meal and help you lose weight.

I hope this helps, good luck!
