How long after eating should you wait to be active?

    How long after eating should you wait to be active?

    When I was a kid it was 'before swimming', and it was 1 hour, and the reason given to me was side stitches.
    Is this an old wives tale?
    Part of me thinks it might stem from some truth, because if I run too soon after eating I get sick to my stomach.
    But no side stitches....

    This is different for pretty much everyone, because everyone's bodies are different. Some people might wait as much as 3 hours and some people are fine to do anything after eating, but 45 minutes to an hour is around the average time they say you should wait. It also depends on what your doing after.

    It really depends on numerous things like what you are eating, what you are doing after you eat, and any potential health conditions that might impact such functions of the body like digestion or metabolism...

    It depends but for my Pilates clients I like them to have left at least 2 hours before exercising.

    The 1 hour wait for swimming as far as i know and for personal experience is just like you said old wives tale, but, if you are going to be active as in exercise you should wait an hour same for swimming unless you are just going to be there hanging around.
