depends which one in particular you are referring to. Some are and some aren't.
Very few are. Most start out stable and become very unstable. I'd go as far to say that 95% of them are not. Imagine acting like someone else most of your days... It's enough to drive a sane man mad.
I think most of them are probably stable. But many of them are maybe eccentric due to their creativity and the constant shifting of moods/emotions needed to play different roles. This could of course lead to mental health problems. But then acting is not the only profession that has this problem.

Why are we now referring to anyone who commits a gun crime as "mentally ill?"One of the things that bothers me most about this debate is that violent shooters are all now somehow assumed to have mental illnesses that are mismanaged or untreated. Where is this belief coming from?
