Has anyone had a baby over 40 and if so how long did it take to conceive?
Also was it conceived naturally or did you need help?
I was thirty-nine years old when I conceived my third child, she was born three days short of a month following my 40th birthday. To answer the question of how long it took to conceive, there are two answers. My oldest child was born when I was 26, my second when I was 27, and as it was always the intention of my husband and I to have three children (we both came from a family of three) we tried off and on through out my thirties to have another child, but for one reason or the other, it just never happened. So, in one respect, the answer to your question is that it took approximately ten years to conceive our youngest daughter. The truth be told though, I had always said that I would not have a baby past 35 because of the risks involved, and though I raised that limit as I passed that age, by the time I was thirty-eight or so, we had just sort of settled into the idea that two was all that we would have and we were okay with that. Somewhere in the fall of 2005, when my latest prescription for birth control ran out, my husband was on deployment and I kept putting off my yearly exam and getting my prescription filled, and it just sort of fell by the wayside. My husband returned from his last deployment in July of 2006, retired from the Navy in November of that year, and our precious surprise was born in May of 2007. So, the second answer to your question would be, about 7 months after stopping birth control, and about 3 weeks after resuming sexual activity. My pregnancy like my other two, was relatively easy, the only real difference was that I felt more tired than I remember during my first two, my labor was about like the last two, and my delivery was also natural and just as easy or as hard as the others, and the result was an absolutely healthy, beautiful, little girl, who is the apple of not only mine and my husbands eye, but of her older brother and sister's as well.
What a lovely answer, thanks very much for sharing your story KBD :-)

Does it strike anyone else as odd that all of the questions seem to largely be debates over god?No one is going to change anyone's mind. No Atheist is going to be swayed by the brilliance hidden in the Koran and suddenly believe, the reverse is just as unlikely. Let's discuss writing!...
