Why do letters for doctors appointments always arrive on their day off?

No wonder so many appointments are missed, the notification that you have an appointment comes on Saturday when the one helpline is closed.  And by Monday people have forgotten!
Why can't tthey save these things until monday and send them all out at the same time?

I find the reason for this to be mainly that most of the doctor's are either on vacation or are overwhelmed with referrals, letters and Rx refills when they return. Also a lot of the time, it has to do with their individual staff not being punctual enough. So therefore the letters do not get to where they are supposed to go, resulting in forgotten or missed appointments altogether. I do know that as a courtesy most physician,s offices are supposed to call as a reminder 24Hr. before a scheduled appt.
