An emotional vampire is a person who sucks all the energy out of you because their emotional life is so completely overwhelming. They involve you in every little drama in their life and are just generally exhausting.
they are creatures of the day and night in guise as friends and family. Often all too eager to take. Ironically I just posted a new hub on my "accusers" and vampires. Check it out!
I think complaining does that, i.e. complainers, but then most of us qualify at one point or another.
I don't see how the other types, like the depressed or needy qualify, because they don't go around looking and searching... but the complainer, craves an ear and attention.
People who pull down others perhaps because they are greedy, envious, or simply because their lives suck.
The problem I have is how to deal with emotional vampires. I've a few tricks though:
- I try to do the best I can so even if the vampires tell me that what I'm doing is stupid then I'd know in myself that I'm doing just fine.
- I stay clear of them and try not to mingle with them.
- I forget and forgive them.
