Do you focus your thoughts consciously before falling asleep? how does it affect you?
I've found that I do very well when I consciously focus my thoughts directly before falling asleep. Sometimes it leads to inspirations or answers that eluded me during the day. Other times it just helps establish a more peaceful/restful sleep. I sometimes use self-hypnosis as well and find it very beneficial? I'll focus on creativity, connecting with my higher self/spirit, or whatever else I feel in need of.
What do you think about? are you conscious of it? do you try to direct your thoughts before falling asleep? What benefits has it had for you?
This is a technique I began using several years ago. I have found that staying consistent with this particular method has allowed me to achieve my goals in a more consistent fashion. I also feel that I maintain a higher energy level.
I allow a few minutes to see what comes up. If I have questions, I will focus on them to see if I receive an answer. When I am ready for sleep, I focus on my breathing and pair it with the thoughts/words "in" and "out" accordingly; otherwise, my thoughts will prevent me from falling asleep.
ChristinS, I like all of the methods you use and have used some to great benefit. If there is something I want to know the answer to I will ask the question before I fall asleep. I am always amazed at the answers I "sometimes" receives....and then there are times when nothing happens. One thing I love to do before falling asleep is to read something inspirational or something funny .... or I will watch a rerun of a great comedy....like The Golden Girls. I usually fall asleep while watching and sleep great.
