What causes hiccups and how do you get rid of them?
I always find it annoying when I develop hiccups. On top of that, it seems like it takes forever to get rid of them. Does anyone know of a good way to make the hiccups stop?
Actually psychologists and doctors are fighting about what causes hiccups. There are two ways I have heard of. One is that it is a nervous reaction. Two, we hiccup because we need more air. I believe the second one because whenever I breath in deeply after getting the hiccups, they seem to go away.
Hiccups is the continual spasming of the diaphragm. I hold my breath, really deep trying to press it down on the diaphragm and it works for me every time.
Sometimes the diaphragm gets irritated by too much food, or swallowing air and the muscle spasms.
