A warm cup of milk, soft music, lavender-scented satchels tucked in pillow, deep belly breathing or just thinking about your blessings (or something nice). Plus those suggested by dubuquedogtrainer.

It is important to understand first what was the reason for insomnia and how long you suffer from it.
Usually nervous stress is cause for insomnia. Several essential oils may help in that case.
You may try to add some (10) drops of Lavender essential oil in the washing machine during the rinsing cycle (or add them to the softener).
Tea from Salvia sclarea leaves before going to bed can do miracles for exhausted nervous system, depression, indigestion problems, headache.

For years, people have been drinking hot cocoa at bed time and I tried doing this, and it really works for me!  I do sleep much better and longer.

The way I make it is:
First heat a 8 - 10 oz glass of milk up in the microwave for 2 min.
Secondly - add 2 - 3 teaspoons of Cocoa & aprox. 2 teaspoons or more of sugar
**The Cocoa I use is Hershey's Unsweetened - just the plain cocoa, not one of those mixes.

Not only will you sleep better, but you'll be doing yourself a favor, because cocoa is loaded with antioxidants!!!  So, you'll be getting healthier as well.

Hope this is helpful & that you will sleep better.
