If the model in your picture represents the average model, then most definitely not. She looks like a walking corpse, its absolutely disgusting the way they have to punish their bodies just to be clothes horses. Surely, using mannequins would be a better and safer alternative.

I think most models of today look unusual, natural and pretty although that model in your picture looks like a starving creature looking for a victim.  She has a pretty face and a wick expression.

No; but the industry has changed. One of the biggest misconceptions about models is the belief that they are supposed to be beautiful. Models serve one purpose: To sell clothing. The reason runway models are so thin is because no one is supposed to be looking at the model. The runway model is supposed to basically be a walking coathanger that shows onlookers what an outfit looks like on the rack. It is true that a certain type of face helps as well, but essentially the body is a functional thing made to show a particular fit of clothing or to show clothing hanging on a rack. Women who want to get into modeling in order to show off their bodies are thinking of pornography or acting; not fashion marketing.

Models used to be bigger way back when, but onlookers were looking at the bodies in a positive, sexual way and not the clothes. They changed the models so be exactly what you said.. walking coathanger. No sex appeal. Nicely said.

the one in the picture is nasty, damn. i think it's about the same as it was 20 years ago. before that, say in the 70's, they weren't quite so thin so they looked a lot better.

If that is the "Average" Model, then that is a major no. I prefer women of the past and plus size models. I prefer plus size women anyway. They are just more beautiful to me. If I walked up to the woman in this picture I would try to shove food down her throat. She really needs to eat something. They might as well have lab skeletons up there trying on the outfits.Guess I am just weird for not liking the models of today.
