How do newlywed couples resolve on the kind of toothpaste to use?

Some toothpastes cause offense and even taste terrible despite your spouse loving them.

If the question is about having to use one your spouse prefers, you don't. If it's about kissing someone who tastes like the stench of a toxic waste dump, speak up.

Hi Attikos, your humour overwhelms. I bet it is on the first one to avoid buying two tubes of paste.

Ha. Ha. This sounds like the first week of my marriage. It seems huge at the time, but it is really such a small issue. If one cannot tolerate his or her spouse's toothpaste aftertaste/smell then you need to communicate and resolve the issue. As newlyweds this would be a great lesson on compromising. Many more important issues to deal with in marriage... Like who takes out the garbage.

It is interesting to note what we consider important. Don't you think so?

You both buy the type of toothpaste that you like (I don't want anybody using my toothpaste, even if I'm married to them).

I can't fathom someone buying a type of toothpaste that smells/tastes so bad their partner wouldn't want to kiss them. It's toothpaste, they're all pretty much the same.

If it is actually a problem get them to swish some water around in their mouth and that will get rid of a lot of the problem or have them use some mouthwash you both don't mind the smell/taste of.

Or just talk to them and ask if they'll switch, it shouldn't be a big deal. If it is, why did you marry them?

They each get their own brand they each prefer.
