What herbal sinus treatment home remedies work for you?
teas, essential oils, orally taken herbs or combination of herbs.
I have used essential oils and they have worked very well. I don't like to use medicines, so I opt for more natural remedies. I have used eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, or camphor oil. I put it in hot water and place it in the room and let the vapors fill the room. For immediate relief, I place in the hot water and put a towel over my head and inhale the vapors. Be very careful not to get too close to the steam, as the steam may burn your face.
I wrote a hub about this a while back. Sinus cleansers are usually the best. A combination of olive leaf, and grapefruit seed extract is the best. It comes in a premix formula produced by seagate, a very reputable company. A salt water nasal rinse is also effective. Put a pinch of salt in the palm of your hand, mix with warm water. Hold one nostril shut, and sniff. Repeat with the other side. And gently blow. It will remove most of the infection, and other debree causing the problem. Works about the same as a neti pot. If mucus is yellow, or green its an infection. Oregano oil taken in capsule form, or as a liquid under the tongue, up to three times a day is very effective against bacteria. Garlic in capsule form upto 500-1000mg 3 times a day, has also been found to be effective. If, when you wake up in the morning, your mouth is dry, adding moisture to the air will help. A humidifyer appropriate for your square footage is very effective. They can be purchased as a stand alone unit, or as an addition to your ductwork. It is best to contact a heating and air conditioning expert. If you are handy, they also sell honeywell through amazon, with instructions. How to gauge what you need.
If the mucus is clear, then it is allergies, and dependant upon when yr allergies act up, will depend on the antidote. Year round= dust, Spring and fall= mold, and so forth. All information, and ordering are included in my article.http://artist101.hubpages.com/hub/Is-it-a-cold-or-allergy
Very useful information, thanks. I am interested in the sinus cleansers.
I started using the sinus cleansers about 10 years ago, and havn't had a problem since. I also took olive leaf extract in pill form, to finally get rid of it. Had a wart, gone in 3 days.
I use Astragalus supplements this time of year to help prevent colds and other respiratory issues. If you have issues with sinuses a Neti pot is a good idea you can use it to flush the sinuses and keep them clear. As for essentials when I do get a cold I like any of the mints, lavender, rosemary, tea tree oils.
