What would you consider obese? What would consider to thin?
Would you consider over 200lbs. to be obese? Would you consider under 100lbs to be to thin? Curious to see what weight you think to be obese or thin.
This question doesn't make sense, because all bodies are different sizes. 200 lbs on a male who has a lot of muscles is very lean. 200 lbs on a short 13 year old boy is probably obese.
I am 5'2 for example with a very tiny bone structure. I look "chunky" at weights that most women of average height and bone structure look thin or normal.
Thin and obese etc isn't about a number on a scale, it's about the percentage of body fat you carry.
I was just curious what people thought was obese and thin because there was a forum about overweight people possibly having to pay more for thier plane seat than a skinny person. It made me sick as you said above all body types are different. thanks!
It all has to do with body mass. If you weigh 250 and have 10% body fat you probably would not be considered obese. On the other hand if you were 150 with a 40% body fat you certainly would be. Currently I am certainly obease but when I was 220 with 185 lean body mass I would not have been considered so by most people.
Thin, however, is more subjective because a 265 lb body builder with 6% body fat would not be considered thin by anyone even though he might have less body fat than a 180 lb 6'3" guy who might just be considered thin by many people.
It largely depends on the height of the person. All BMI calculators use that as a basic starting point. 200lbs on a 5'6" guy will be obese unless he is in his 20s and a top athlete. 100lbs on a guy is too thin in almost all cases since most men have an average height of 5'8"+ and normal weight of 150lbs.
Thank you all for answering. I was just curious about this as there was a forum question about airlines possibly charging an overweight passenger more than a skinny person. So I just wanted to get a perception of others as to what they thought was obese or thin. All of you concur that everyone's size and shape is different and that we can't all be stick figure, barbie and ken dolls. What about pregnant woman? or disabled people? It will be very discriminatory if airlines subject us to extra fees for our weight. I think it is grossly unfair. Thanks for your answers.

THIS is just a little rant to convince people to forget about the scale and focus on the real enemy - body fat + a little bit of shameless self promotion [rant]The mistake that most people do, when they want to start a exercise program and diet, is to think that the bad shape their body is in is...

We have always been so close, and I guess I feel a bit rejected, but would NEVER tell her that!! I have always told her positive things about adoption and...
