Have you ever had a life-threatening or near-death experience?

Yes, many life threatening experiences. And also a couple of near death experiences. The life threatening experiences were really not thought about because I was caught up in the moment and doing what I needed to survive. The near death experiences were quite peaceful actually. If you have faith and know what happens next, it relinquishes the fear.

I never looked at it like that, being "caught in the moment". The older I get the more of a wuss I become, but yet run into burning buildings without thinking about it.  ..."Peaceful" near death experience, I need to find that place.

Yes indeed, for life-threatening I would list the time I had a 12 bore shotgun pointed at me at very close range by a homicidal teen- ager, and the couple of times I have managed to survive mega earthquakes and their aftershocks, including the tsunamis. Strengths 8.5 and more on the Richter scale.
For near-death experiences, I have been almost on the other side through severe illness. I remember the shining light very clearly. I don't remember any fear, I think I was too far gone for that.

Oh my word! I can't believe you had a shotgun pointed at you, at you!? Earthquakes, tusnamis and severe illness; you could write a hub about it, or even a book rather!  What hasn't killed you has made you stronger?

Many times for the life threatening part of your question, everything from being shot at, to being hit by a bus. No near death experiences though. ( Knocks on wood )

Gee, I thought I've been through some rough spots, but being shot at and hit by a bus? I hope your involved in law enforcement or some reason that would explain, to some extent, being shot at?

Innocent bystander, just went hiking with a few friends when some one starts shooting at us, we heard the first shot and saw the guy pointing a rifle at us from a distance, he had a few dogs which he let loose on us, we ran and never knew the reason.

Gosh, the older I get the more fear I have. I don't know if it's because the world seems to be getting scarier or if it just happens when you start getting old, but I lock my doors as I drive into suburban areas, lol. How goofy is that. Shot at? Gee!

hey, asking someone about near-death experience in the part of the world where i come from (Nigeria) is when you want to write a journal cause there everywhere in my country is a jungle and to see everyday is a survival story. i have had several experience like when i got shot on 31th of December some years back, surviving ritual killers.... it might interest you to know that in Africa we are all soldiers on the battle field everyday.

Last spring I was admitted to the ER after falling too much. They took an MRI which revealed my skull had fallen and was pressing on the brain stem which controls breathing and heart rate. With out the surgery I was only oven months to live.
I thought having a diagnosis of cancer was the worst but there was absolutely no hope of any survival with out surgery. I asked what would happen with out the surgery,
They said my family would just find me dead one morning due to a severed signal cord.
Cancer is an awful diagnosis. This was such a shock and I heard the news without my family with me. I was devastated and scared beyond belief,
The other time it was an acute infection after surgery.
My temp was 105 and climbing. My veins collapsed and they had to pour ice on me. I thought for sure I was dying. I lost 3 days. I don't remember a thing,
    But I'm still here. Yay
