    Are we concious choice makers?

Are we truly concious when making life choices  or are we just going thru the motions to get to an end result?

We have to make choices between material things and relations. While birth and deaths are in the hands of God, no doubt we make conscious decisions while making relationships and friends and we may take chances while dealing with material things. One has the option to change the material things but in case one is compelled to change friends and relationships, the memoirs haunt the person throughout life. As such to get en end result in making relations one has be very much conscious.

Of course we are conscious when making choices.  But what people should also realize, and attempt to get some sort of understanding of, is the fact that we have a subconscious mind.  Your subconscious mind has a huge effect on the decisions you make.  This is one of the biggest reasons people always find themselves reading self-help books, saying they are going to change something, but never actually do it.  Just because you make a conscious decision to do something, doesn't mean your subconscious mind is always going to take note of it. Ever heard the phrase "practice makes perfect?"  That applies to everything in life.  If you want to change something, the best way to do it is replace it with something better.  The best thing you can do in life is choose...meaning choose your attitude.  That is the one thing in life we all have power over.  Don't be negative in life or worry too much because that will get you absolutely nowhere.  Freedom is the only thing in life worth putting above everything else.  Freedom should be everyone's goal.  Don't over think it.

Williamkosko: Thank you for your answer. I think your conscious and subconscious combined and in unison create an awakened thought choice rather than an unconsious choice. Don't you think so too?

Yes I agree. I also believe it is very hard to find that unison in today's world.  Because  many people try to change you.  A lot of people worry about too much that does not matter.  And our environments can program us all to be a certain way, from

William: Don't ever let the outside world effect who you truly are. You are perfect whole and complete just being you.Let others do and be who they are. No need to conform to their beliefs.Have your own.Live your true life and let others live theirs.

Normally, we make choices which we consider will benefit us but most of the time we find that they prove to be contrary. This is so because we make choices with a selfish motive. If we choose anything with a motive that it will benefit others, we will benefit from it more because the others, who are too getting its benefit, are sending us their positive vibrations knowingly or unknowingly.

The best way to make a right choice is to listen to your conscience or inner-self. Your conscience will never approve of a choice which will harm anybody else. It will allow you to make a choice, which will be beneficial to others.

After making life choices, one must be ready to own full responsibility of its outcome. The choices made with good conscience will always have favorable outcomes, whereas those made without good conscience may not bear fruitful outcome.

Most of us don't take the help of our inner-self in making choices, so we are not so succesful in our relationships, careers or professional or business ventures. Such choices don't give us happiness and peace too.

Dr. Pran: All of the above is so very true but it isn't about good choices or bad choices but rather are we awake when we make said choices or are we just going thru the motions.

It all depends on whether we are making logical choices or emotional choices. For logical choices, we use our left brain and it requires conscious effort. For emotional choices, however, we use what we call our "heart". What we should have for dinner, for example, could either be a logical choice or an emotional choice. You may well decide to have a beef steak because of a craving. However, if you are on diet, you may belabor over what to eat.

It goes beyond that.  I do not think most people realize that your environment has a huge influence on those parts of your brain, but you still have control over all of that. But it is not as apparent.

When we are young I think we make choices based on what others are doing.
I know friends who got married because other friends did and they were worried about being single.
Then after I think they realize they did it because others were doing it.
I need to think everything through. Although I did make a few stupid decisions in my earlier days.
But now I think before I act.
