Where to buy health insurance that does not have deductibles and good for short period of time?
Say good for three months only while waiting for availability of it in relation to my job.
I know that Blue Cross Blue Shield has temporary health insurance because I opted for one a few years back when my husband got a new job and we weren't sure if he would like it or not. As far as it having no deductibles, they may have one at a very high premium. Since I obtain my family's insurance plan, I search them out once per year to see what is available and compare costs. However, I have noticed that insurance companies are tacking on higher and higher deductibles and co-insurance. For instance, when I first started with Blue Cross Blue Shield, I could obtain one of their plans with a low deductible of $100 or $250 per year. However, most of their plans now have $1,000 as their lowest deductible. With any insurance, you are going to pay higher costs for premiums with no or little deductibles. Just a note --> if you are pretty healthy and don't need to see the doctor often, it would be better to opt for a higher deductible plan just to save you monthly premiums.
On another note, you can check with the following as well:
(1) CVS's MinuteClinic. They are only available at certain locations. However, they perform physicals, tests, labs, and treat sicknesses. You can check out their site (http://www.minuteclinic.com/services/) for locations near your as well as the services they provide with costs. Their cost is minimal; however, they also take insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.
(2) Local Health Department. This is usually free. Check them out to find what services are provided.
(3) County or State Subsidized Health Insurance. Many counties and states provide insurance for those under a certain salary. Some are on sliding scale fees. Co-payments are usually around $3 per doctor visit.
