Having inner peace is a wonderful thing. If you have inner peace, how do you attain it?

How do you attain inner peace daily even through trails, which we all experience?  Thank you for answering.

Faith i believe if we fall in love with Jesus there is this soothing peace that hovers over us. Yet when trails comes sometimes our faith begins to waver and we feel the enemy satan trying to steal that peace and joy away from us.

I'll tell you this though in my situation i have been through many valleys, many trials but because i love the Lord and i know he keeps me from doing evil things, He has kept me from this world of sin. All i do i look away to Jesus, i see Him walking on that lonely dusty road with the cross that became so heavy. I see him when he fell beneath the Load, I see the nails in his hands etc and i remember all the good things that God has done for me.

How can i be ever ungrateful? i start to sing songs like ; I've been on the mountain with Jesus" , Blessed Assurance Jesus is mines" , There will be PEACE in the Valley for me some day", What a friend we have in Jesus" and that peace and love of God comes right back around and strengthen me i believe it's what makes me a RUGGED soldier in the army of the LORD. I KNOW I WON'T FIND THAT PEACE ANYWHERE ELSE. So i must attain it smile.

I do hope something was said of edification to someone.

Have a Lovely day my dear friend and sister in the Lord smile

It took me a long time, but I did reach a place where I feel at peace with life and who I am even in times of struggle, in fact a lot of my struggles were what ultimately led me to seek that place.  I find comfort in meditation and full and present awareness.  - It allows us to detach from our thoughts/emotions enough to witness them and see where they are going.  What we think/feel determines our overall experience in life.  For me, learning how to redirect my thoughts and how to take difficult emotions and turn them towards something positive was key.  Instead of being angry at someone or a situation and stewing about it; I started focusing on being proactive and doing things about it that were productive and elevated my consciousness. Instead of caving in to fears and self-consciousness, I learned how to face them and move forward anyway.  I think the path to peace is different for everyone ultimately - we all have our own things to overcome, but the largest part of it is seeking it and being willing to face things we tend to avoid to attain it. Then we have to be willing to develop the healthy habits that lead to inner peace.  It's a series of behaviors/habits that help us still feel that still calm even when the world around us gets chaotic.  I liken it to being able to enter the eye of a storm at will.  It takes practice and is a sort of spiritual/mental exercise - kind of like training for a marathon is a series of habits and training physically.

By a change in understanding. Wisdom is the key. All disturbances are basically thoughts and feelings. If there are no thoughts, where is the disturbance? There is only an empty space. The space is the reality that never changes. The thoughts come and go. Good thoughts, bad thoughts, emotions all appear and disappear. A quick remedy is to become amused, laugh, be unconcerned and move on to the next thought. Each person's thoughts are playing tricks on them. They are blaming others or the world but without their commentary or self talk, nothing is happening. Each person is free to accept or reject the thoughts of others or the media. So each person is creating their own world every moment. If they don't like it, who is stopping them from changing it? Peace is instantly available by just becoming aware of one's thoughts at the moment and changing them. By letting go of faults, mistakes, the past thoughts/happenings and not worrying about the future, that only leaves now. And nothing is happening right now. The only power is within. If one is attentive to their own thoughts, they can easily overcome the world because the world is only thoughts. Without thoughts, there is no world. Only empty forms, just like on the television screen. Whatever they are doing is irrelevant because they have no power at all. It is all thoughts and imagination.

Hello Sri T, brilliant answer there! So wise to let go and change your thoughts, as the mind is the main battlefield indeed for all you have stated. Exactly, and those false imaginations will have you all tied up in knots.  Peace is divine!

I attain inner peace by being true to myself. I also have a relationship with God outside of church. I went to Catholic school when I was young, but always had questions that the nuns didn't want to answer.

I talk to God whenever I feel the need and from wherever I am. I'm sure He appreciates that more than going to an edifice sequestered as the only place to speak to Him. I don't feel comfortable in church. It makes me cry. It gets in the way of what little time I have for myself.

My relationship with God allows me freedom of speech and time. He's omnipotent, so why do I need to go to church to connect with Him? I don't. He's within. He's here. He's a part of me.

That's why I go within. That's why I'm true to myself.

    Peace,
    Bravewarrior

Good question and equally good answers!
Inner peace is something, which has to be achieved by self. Human mind is such that it can make heaven out of hell and hell out of heaven. One who has become successful in controlling his mind, his thoughts, the many desires and so many other things which disturb and distract our mind,  can attain Inner peace. But this is easier said than done. This requires lot of patience, determination and self control. But once this is achieved, life becomes so easy to live, so enjoyable that you find beauty, satisfaction and pleasure even in small things.
Prayer, meditation, being close to nature are some of the ways, by which I think Inner Peace can be achieved. It is also important to try and forget the unpleasant things of the past, which might disturb the mind and with a large heart, forgive those who have done wrong to you. Again, its not as easy as it looks. But then, it does help your own self to become peaceful by doing so.

Hi ChitrangadaSharan, Thank you for your answer and sharing how you attain inner peace.  Our mind is the main battlefield for no peace, so being mindful of what we are thinking is key to attaining peace. Prayer is most important & to forgive divi
