because they are gimmicks. The only way to lose weight is to eat less and move more - period. People don't like to hear that and they will go to great lengths to not have to exercise or change what they are doing. Companies know this and come up with different gimmicks and make outrageous profits on people's desires for an easy fix over hard work.
I agree with ChristinS. Most are gimmicks using the basics for weight loss and repackaging them. The formula for weight loss, while remembering weight loss is not necessarily fat loss, has been the same since who knows when. To loose one pound of body fat the body has to burn 3,500 calories. How one gets there is what is packaged by weight loss programs.
Adding to this seeking 'why' success is lacking could be said the lack of fortitude. The parameters are infinite, yet simply the fortitude needed to overcome discomfort is lost somehow and someway.
However, that does not address maintaining a desired weight. Again, as ChristinS shares it is calorie intake and exercise to meet the minimum needed calorie balance for weight and hopefully body fat maintenance.
I totally agree with ChristinS. Weight loss clinics lure innocent victims with promises of fast and effortless weight loss, and some people fall for it as they want to do minimum effort possible. Weight loss can never be effortless. It involves persistence, discipline and regular exercise. Since weight is gained over a long period of time, losing it also involves time, there's no healthy short-cut. Once people realize it, they will stop getting duped by these so-called fast weight loss methods.
Because most people are not motivated enough to use them, & are too busy chasing other things to be bothered with their own health..A fat person will never realize what their missing until they start to get really fit, & they won't start to get really fit until they see what their missing..I will state that in my opinion for what it's worth there is no such thing as a lazy person, & what a lazy person really is is an un-motivated person..So unless their motivated in the first place to get really serious about getting fit, they shouldn't even bother trying because it will never work..If they find something they love doing that involves fitness, then it will work every time & said person will become fitter..I always stay as fit as i can be because i love feeling fit, & that's enough motivation for me to always stay fit..Now a fat person won't love the feeling of being fit like i do, so instead they have to go for something they love doing that involves fitness..The love of doing something physical that we love doing will always manifest enough will power in us for us to do it, an example is making love & no matter how out of shape we are we always find the motivation for that!lol..Other examples are walking, hiking, climbing, dancing, gardening, not to mention all the various sports out there..So no gimmicks or methods are needed, as only finding physical things that we love to do will ever get us fit as only then do we have the motivation to continue..
Because most people don't follow the right way to do it. With all the supplements and juices in the market which say that you can get back to a sexy shape when you take them, you also need to do the 'other' things. And I am talking about the proper diet and regular exercise.
Those supplements and juices are just boosting tools, and it will never be the reason for you to lose weight. Do the right thing and your goal will follow you.
Because procedures was not properly followed and observed.

THIS is just a little rant to convince people to forget about the scale and focus on the real enemy - body fat + a little bit of shameless self promotion [rant]The mistake that most people do, when they want to start a exercise program and diet, is to think that the bad shape their body is in is...
