What makes a highly intelligent person with lots of potential & promise from an affluent background
to be completely aimless regarding a career &/or profession? There seem to be bright, even extremely bright people who simply do not know what they want to do, even when they become adults. They have no idea what they want to do careerwise . They are not driven towards a specific career goal but just meander as far as careers go. What type of personality makes such bright person quite unsure & uncertain as far as career achievement & attainment goes? Are these adults prototypical underachievers?
Personality is defined by genetics, not affluence. If someone is predisposed to be shiftless and unambitious, nothing will change that--s/he will likely be lazy whether his parents are well-to-do or not. Likewise, if someone is predisposed to be ambitious and resourceful, nothing will change that, either--s/he will always be a go-getter regardless of their financial situation.

I'm not a big follower of celebrities, but I was shocked just now to hear that Robin Williams has died. These things are always so sad to hear.
