Counting carbs works really well for type 1 diabetics. I think the exchange plan is easier for type 2 diabetics who don't take insulin.
could be. My hubby is type 2 but he takes insulin so the counting carbs diet has been what works for him.
My daughter is type 1, and uses the counting carbs system as well. The exchange plan technique is very much like Weight Watcher's, so it's also easy to incorporate weight loss into your diabetic plans. And since so many type 2 diabetics have weight issues, that might explain why it's so popular with them.
1 slice toasted whole wheat bread with 1 teaspoon margarine
1/4 cup egg substitute or cottage cheese
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 small banana
