What does Memorial Day meant to you?

Does it reminds you more than going to the seaside or familes barbecues

In my case, not growing-up in the western world, has had quite the effect on me. I do not celebrate Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Victoria Day, ... I am probably missing some others too.
I got Christmas and Easter ... that's it. It is a matter of culture, I think. I actually do not know what Memorial Day is. Is it today?

I don't do anything too big, but I do remember and thank those who've died and those who are still alive who've served our country.

All throughout my childhood, it reminded me of our annual family picnic at a state park. As I got older, I have learned to respect those who have served our country, as it is a day that meant for them.
