What is your most memorable moment of 2012?

My most memorable moment of the past year was when my wife AnniePie spoke to her birth mother for the first time in their lives.

Anyone who knows what the 1940s-50s was like in America for an unwed college student can understand why so many infants were given up for adoption. Compounding Annie's situation is that California was a "closed" adoption state, meaning adoption records were sealed from disclosure of identifying information even to those who were placed for adoption.

With the help of the ALMA society and a couple of determined and dedicated volunteers, Annie finally found her birth mother after some 10 years of searching. She also connected with her aunt and a cousin. She and the cousin are Facebook friends now, and she keeps in touch with her mom and aunt via emails and occasional telephone visits. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise we plan to make it out to CA in 2013 for the face-to-face hug fest.

So, how has this changed your wife's life? I cannot imagine what the implications would be if I were in her shoes.

CJ, connecting with her maternal family has heightened Annie's sense of belonging and identity. She knows, for example, that her artistic passions came from her grandfather, a well-known landscape/seascape artist and art teacher in San Francisco.

I feel so happy for her. I was later thinking about what you wrote about her and thought how wonderful it would be to be able to add pieces to a puzzle that had been lost and now are found.

When I did NOT blow up because of the Mayan calendar ended. LOL Maybe I will blow up in 2013 when my kitty calendar runs out.

22 May. The day the love of my life, and best friend I ever had walked out of my life. For the last time.

I'm sorry to hear that, Tim. But, how do you know it is really for the last time?

My most memorable moment of the year 2012 as of now, is me going into the emergency room on my birthday. I had the most excruciating pain on my back and they later found out that I had a kidney stone. I'm still dealing with pain still today.

Well...that is well worth remembering!!! :0)  But, how can a fiance carry out a wedding proposal? Doesn't being a fiance already imply betrothal?

Well two things really. The first is that my mother had a serious health crisis that was averted (Thank you, Lord) and the second is my sprained ankle.

It hurts so bad it's hard to think about anything else. I hate to say it, but I am a bit more aggressive than normal, probably because of sleep deprivation. I just can't get my foot in a comfortable position and the darn thing just throbs sometimes. Kind of reminds me of the Lion and the thorn parable.
